Floristic Study of Daebudo Island

open access: yesKorean Journal of Plant Resources, 2014
We have investigated the flora of Daebudo Island in Ansan-si, Gyeonggi-do and Seonjaedo Island in Ongjin-gun, Incheon. Thirty-three separate field trips were carried out from March 2012 to October 2013. As a result, 518 taxa including 103 families, 316 genera, 451 species, 9 subspecies, 56 varieties and 16 forms were identified.

Structure, floristic composition and successional characterization of fragments of Semideciduous Seasonal Forest in Southeast Brazil

open access: yes, 2014
This study was conducted in a fragment of semideciduous seasonal forest (SSF), located in Sorocaba (SP, Brazil), in order to verify its successional stage and infer from the future composition.

Age‐related trends in niche position and specialization in Neotropical vertebrates

open access: yesEcography, EarlyView.
Species' niche positions and breadths within a region's environmental space, measured through ecological niche factor analysis (ENFA) as marginality and specialization, can reflect evolutionary constraints related to lineage age. The ‘internal incumbency' hypothesis predicts that older species, due to competitive preemption, occupy more central niche ...

Floristic novelties in the context of interdisciplinary studies

open access: yesProceedings on applied botany, genetics and breeding, 2021
Nowa days, interdisciplinary studies are increasingly important. Integration of botany with humanities, particularly with archaeology and ethnology, is amongst these studies. It is noteworthy that, as a result of such surveys, not only “synthetic” new data could be obtained, but also data in the specific fields of knowledge that compose these ...

A practical guide to species trend detection with unstructured data using local frequency scaling (Frescalo)

open access: yesEcography, EarlyView.
Accurately measuring biodiversity change remains a central challenge in ecology. Beyond the general idea of quantifying temporal species frequency changes, several sampling‐related biases in data collection remain key methodological challenges to consider. Long‐term standardized ecological data are rare, and most available datasets exhibit considerable

Pollen Morphology of Crucianella L. (Rubiaceae) Based on Light and Scanning Electron Microscope Data and Implications for Taxonomy

open access: yesMicroscopy Research and Technique, EarlyView.
This study provides the palynological analysis of 12 Crucianella L. taxa using LM and SEM. Variations in pollen size, aperture number, and exine ornamentation were identified as key traits, demonstrating their taxonomic value for distinguishing closely related species and subspecies within the genus. ABSTRACT Crucianella L.

The Sino-Himalayan flora evolved from lowland biomes dominated by tropical floristic elements

open access: yesBMC Biology, 2023
Background The Sino-Himalayan flora harbors highly diverse high-elevation biotas, but our understanding of its evolutionary history in temporal and spatial dimensions is limited.

Exploring dynamics of floristic composition in Mediterranean grasslands: a case study from Sardinia, Italy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
Mediterranean grasslands stand out as biodiversity hotspots due to their inclusion of diverse habitats that foster a remarkable range of biological diversity, characterized by inter-annual variability of floristic composition.

Underground Lag: Fungal Community and Edaphic Legacies After Disturbance

open access: yesLand Degradation &Development, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Páramos are neotropical mountain ecosystems that regulate water and store large amounts of carbon, but are increasingly degraded by agriculture and grazing. Although native vegetation often recolonizes after abandonment, belowground recovery remains poorly understood.
