Effects of a large irrigation reservoir on aquatic and riparian plants: a history of survival and loss [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Dammed rivers have unnatural stream flows, disrupted sediment dynamics, and rearranged geomorphologic settings. Consequently, fluvial biota experiences disturbed functioning in the novel ecosystems.

Satellite hindcasts of foliar traits reveal a subtle but consistent relaxation of conservativeness in a biodiverse mountain grassland over the last four decades

open access: yesEcography, EarlyView.
Projected warming and drying raise concerns about the resilience of stress‐adapted ecosystems, including the Brazilian Campo Rupestre, an exceptionally biodiverse mountaintop grassland mosaic on ancient, nutrient‐poor substrates. Here, we combine field‐based trait data and long‐term remote sensing to assess the functional structure and temporal ...

The Sino-Himalayan flora evolved from lowland biomes dominated by tropical floristic elements

open access: yesBMC Biology, 2023
Background The Sino-Himalayan flora harbors highly diverse high-elevation biotas, but our understanding of its evolutionary history in temporal and spatial dimensions is limited.

Tree Species Composition and Forest Stratification along the Gradients in the Dry Deciduous Forests of Godavari Valley, Telangana, India [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
It is important to understand the tree species composition, abundance, species diversity and stratification in tropical dry deciduous forests that are under threat. A quadrat study was attempted in the dry deciduous forests along the ecological

Tracing the origins and evolution of nymphalid butterflies (Lepidoptera) in the Atlantic Forest

open access: yesEcography, EarlyView.
Understanding the relative roles of diversification and dispersal is key to explaining large‐scale biogeographical patterns. Although both processes are known to shape biodiversity, their relative contributions remain understudied for many organisms. Here, we examine how these processes have jointly contributed to the exceptional diversity and endemism

Pollen Morphology of Crucianella L. (Rubiaceae) Based on Light and Scanning Electron Microscope Data and Implications for Taxonomy

open access: yesMicroscopy Research and Technique, EarlyView.
This study provides the palynological analysis of 12 Crucianella L. taxa using LM and SEM. Variations in pollen size, aperture number, and exine ornamentation were identified as key traits, demonstrating their taxonomic value for distinguishing closely related species and subspecies within the genus. ABSTRACT Crucianella L.
