Application of flotation for the separation of metal-loaded zeolites

Chemosphere, 2004
Several industrial wastewater streams may contain heavy metal ions, which must be effectively removed, before the discharge or reuse of treated waters could take place. Different bonding materials, presenting selectivity and fast reaction kinetics for the removal of metals, have been examined for this purpose.

Water Separation and Flotation Processes

Journal of Field Archaeology, 1974
AbstractThe water separator, a mechanical flotation device which is finding increasing usage among Mediterranean archaeologists, is compared with “tub” flotation which is widely practiced by North American archaeologists. The water separator was found to be two to three times more efficient than tub flotation.

A New Technique for Separating Flotation Samples

American Antiquity, 1986
The seed blower is an instrument typically employed by seed technologists to sort seed types by density. Because of the labor intensive nature of hand separating flotation samples, the seed blower offers archaeologists a new apparatus that enhances the efficiency of initial separation.

Mixed Liquor Solids Separation by Flotation

Journal of the Sanitary Engineering Division, 1970
A full-scale dissolved air flotation unit, designed for solids-liquid separation of an activated sludge mixed liquor, was evaluated in a field investigation. The data indicate that conventional design parameters do not predict flotation performance in terms of effluent suspended solids. A new parameter was developed and is proposed as a rational design

Flotation and Liquid Separation Techniques

2001
Liquid separation procedures can generally be assigned to one of two groups. (i) Gravity separation techniques: use a gravity difference between particles within a residue. The procedure’s success is considerably improved by using a liquid with a specific gravity (S.G.) value between the two main mineralogical components to be separated.

Mechanism of separating muscovite and quartz by flotation

Journal of Central South University, 2014
Flotation experiments were performed to investigate the separation of muscovite and quartz in the presence of dodecylamine (DDA), tallow amine (TTA) and dodecyltrimethylammonium bromide (DTAC). The adsorption mechanisms of these three kinds of amines on muscovite and quartz were studied by FT-IR spectrum analysis, contact angle measurement and ...

FLOTATION AND MAGNETIC SEPARATION PROCESSES FOR A MINERAL OF WOLLASTONITE

SGEM International Multidisciplinary Scientific GeoConference EXPO Proceedings
This paper presents the results of laboratory processing tests conducted to explore the potential for beneficiation of a wollastonite mineral (calcium metasilicate, CaSiO3). The ore studied comes from a mineralized body located in the southern part of Sardinia (Italy), which has been studied in the past with geological surveys and sampling.

The separation of iridium and ruthenium by ion flotation

Analytica Chimica Acta, 1985
Abstract Mixtures of iridium(IV) and ruthenium(III) as IrCl 2− 6 and RuCl t— 6 are separated by ion flotation. Iridium (IV) is selectively floated from mixtures of the metal complexes in aqueous 1.0 M hydrochloric acid with hexadecylpyridinium bromide (HPB) and nitrogen. Ruthenium(III) does not float under the same conditions.

Study on Flotation Separation of Muscovite and Kaolinite

Advanced Materials Research, 2015
The influence of dodecylamine acetate (DDA) and myristyl trimethyl ammonium chloride (1431) on the flotation behavior of muscovite and kaolinite were studied in this paper. The condition which can efficiently separate the muscovite and kaolinite was found out: 5×10-5mol·L-1~1×10-4mol·L-11431 as collector and pH=5.The feasibility of flotation separation

Mechanism of separating pyrite and dolomite by flotation

Journal of University of Science and Technology Beijing, Mineral, Metallurgy, Material, 2007
Abstract To study the mechanism of separating pyrite and dolomite by flotation, the acting mechanisms of WHL depressor and both the minerals were studied by means of thermogravimetric and differential thermal analysis (TG-DTA), Fourier transform infrareddiffuse reflection spectroscopy (FTIR-DRS), and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The results
