In earlier works by the present authors, it was shown that a large cross-flow excitation is induced to a circular cylinder by setting another cylinder downstream in a cruciform arrangement with a certain gap between them, caused by longitudinal vortices ...

Flow-induced vibrations of a rotating cylinder [PDF]
AbstractThe flow-induced vibrations of a circular cylinder, free to oscillate in the cross-flow direction and subjected to a forced rotation about its axis, are analysed by means of two- and three-dimensional numerical simulations. The impact of the symmetry breaking caused by the forced rotation on the vortex-induced vibration (VIV) mechanisms is ...

Influence factors analysis of flow-induced vibration of elbow in piping system
[Objectives] As important parts of any piping system, the elbows are one of the main factors causing vibration. To have a better understanding of Flow-Induced Vibration(FIV) of elbows in piping system.[Methods] In this paper, the diameter, curvature ...

Flow induced by a randomly vibrating boundary [PDF]
We study the flow induced by random vibration of a solid boundary in an otherwise quiescent fluid. The analysis is motivated by experiments conducted under the low level and random effective acceleration field that is typical of a microgravity environment.

Experimental Investigation on Flow-Induced Vibration of Fuel Rods in Supercritical Water Loop
The supercritical water-cooled reactor (SCWR) is one of the most promising Generation IV reactors. In order to make the fuel qualification test for SCWR, a research plan is proposed to test a small scale fuel assembly in a supercritical water loop.
