3D IBFV: hardware-accelerated 3D flow visualization [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Ultrasonics, Ferroelectrics and Frequency Control, 2004
We present a hardware-accelerated method for visualizing 3D flow fields. The method is based on insertion, advection, and decay of dye. To this aim, we extend the texture-based IBFV technique presented by van Wijk (2001) for 2D flow visualization in two main directions.

Numerical Simulation of Chute Energy Dissipation with Submerged Cylindrical Obstacle using Flow 3D Model [PDF]

open access: yesعلوم و مهندسی آبیاری, 2018
In general, the energy dissipating structures are used in order to prevent the destructive effects of high flow velocities through the spillways. Among these structures, the most commonly used structures are chutes in water conveyance systems in dams ...

3D-Printed Calorimetric Flow Sensor [PDF]

open access: yes2020 IEEE SENSORS, 2020
This work shows the development and char- acterization of a fully 3D-printed thermal mass flow sensor, based on regular and carbon-doped thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU). Using multi material fused deposition modelling (FDM) 3D-printing, the sensor is based on one heater element and two resistive thermal sensors (sensor - heater - sensor configuration).

Three-dimensional numerical simulation of local scour around circular bridge pier using Flow-3D software

open access: yesIOP Conference Series: Materials Science and Engineering, 2020
The problem of local scouring around circular bridge pier has been studied numerically by Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) using Flow-3D model to represent the evolution of local scour and the maximum depth of the scour hole which is important in the ...

Reduced scan time and superior image quality with 3D flow MRI compared to 4D flow MRI for hemodynamic evaluation of the Fontan pathway

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2021
Long scan times prohibit a widespread clinical applicability of 4D flow MRI in Fontan patients. As pulsatility in the Fontan pathway is minimal during the cardiac cycle, acquiring non-ECG gated 3D flow MRI may result in a reduction of scan time while ...

Design and Modelling of 3D Bionic Cathode Flow Field for Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cell

open access: yesEnergies, 2021
Proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs) have been utilized as a promising power source for new energy vehicles. Their performances are greatly affected by the structural design of the flow field in the bipolar plate.

FlowBot3D: Learning 3D Articulation Flow to Manipulate Articulated Objects [PDF]

open access: yesRobotics: Science and Systems Conference, 2022
We explore a novel method to perceive and manipulate 3D articulated objects that generalizes to enable a robot to articulate unseen classes of objects.

Spectral flow in 3D flat spacetimes [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2017
In this paper we investigate spectral flow symmetry in asymptotically flat spacetimes both from a gravity as well as a putative dual quantum field theory perspective. On the gravity side we consider models in Einstein gravity and supergravity as well as their "reloaded" versions, present suitable boundary conditions, determine the respective asymptotic

Sensitivity of gyre-scale marine connectivity estimates to fine-scale circulation [PDF]

open access: yesOcean Science, 2023
We investigated the connectivity properties of an idealized western boundary current system separating two ocean gyres, where the flow is characterized by a well-defined mean circulation as well as energetic fine-scale features (i.e., mesoscale and ...
