Opportunities of Semiconducting Oxide Nanostructures as Advanced Luminescent Materials in Photonics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The review discusses the challenges of wide and ultrawide bandgap semiconducting oxides as a suitable material platform for photonics. They offer great versatility in terms of tuning microstructure, native defects, doping, anisotropy, and micro‐ and nano‐structuring. The review focuses on their light emission, light‐confinement in optical cavities, and

Experimental Study of Saturated Flow Boiling Heat Transfer in an Array of Micro-pin-fins

open access: yesZhileng xuebao, 2018
Experiments were carried out to investigate the saturated flow boiling heat transfer and visualize the two-phase flow patterns for deionized water in a micro-pin-fin heat sink with cylindrical fins with a height of 500 μm and diameter of 500 μm. The test

Ammonium Salts as Curing Agents to Obtain Ionic Epoxy Resins With a Thermoplastic‐to‐Thermoset Transition

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Ionic epoxy networks are prepared using ammonium salts as hardeners, leading to a two‐stage curing process with a thermoplastic‐like intermediate. This uncommon behavior enables extrusion and fabrication of thermoplastic prepregs that can be cured into thermoset composites.

Numerical modelling of conjugate heat transfer in force convective flow environment using a combined boiling model (CBM)

open access: yesResults in Engineering
Subcooled flow boiling is a crucial heat transfer mechanism in which the fluid temperature exceeds its saturation point, leading to phase change. Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) is a powerful tool for investigating such phenomena.

An experimental investigation of void fraction characteristics of flow boiling in a 5×5 rod bundle channel

open access: yesCase Studies in Thermal Engineering
Flow boiling in the rod bundle channel is an important phenomenon in nuclear reactors. The local inhomogeneous void fraction distribution in the flow channel will affect the flow and heat transfer in two phase flow.

Boiling Flow Pattern Identification Using a Self-Organizing Map

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2020
In the paper, a self-organizing map combined with the recurrence quantification analysis was used to identify flow boiling patterns in a circular horizontal minichannel with an inner diameter of 1 mm. The dynamics of the pressure drop during density-wave

Leaftronics: Bio‐Fractal Scaffolds From Leaf Venation for Low‐Waste Electronics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
“Leaftronics” transforms naturally evolved leaf venation into quasi‐fractal scaffolds for sustainable electronics. Polymer‐infiltrated leaf skeletons can be used to fabricate ultra‐smooth, reflow‐ and thin‐film‐compatible decomposable substrates, while making the same lignocellulose networks conducting results in flexible transparent electrodes.

Flow Boiling in Minichannels [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
The use ofmini-channel heat exchangers (hydraulic diameter about 1 mm) in compact heat exchangers improves heat transfer coefficients, and thermal efficiency while requiring a lower fluid mass. They are widely used in condensers for automobile air-conditioning and are now being used in evaporators, as well as in other applications such as domestic air ...
