Leidenfrost temperature increase for impacting droplets on carbon-nanofiber surfaces [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Droplets impacting on a superheated surface can either exhibit a contact boiling regime, in which they make direct contact with the surface and boil violently, or a film boiling regime, in which they remain separated from the surface by their own vapor ...

Characterization of Nitinol Produced by Laser Powder Bed Fusion for Mechanical Metamaterial Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Stabilization of L‐PBF Ni50.7Ti49.3 under low‐cycle loading was investigated. Recoverable strain after cycling was dependent on the amount of applied load. Recovery ratio was 53.4% and 35.1% at intermediate and high load, respectively. The maximum total strain reached 10.3% at a high load of 1200 MPa.

Unsteady phenomena in saturated flow boiling heat transfer – An experimental study on oscillating refrigerant mass flux

open access: yesAlexandria Engineering Journal, 2022
The present work pertains to experimental studies on the unsteady phenomena in the saturated flow boiling of R407C stemming from the oscillatory refrigerant flow rate with the triangle shape in the horizontal slender annular channel.

FLOW BOILING IN VERTICAL DOWN-FLOW [PDF]

open access: yesProceeding of International Heat Transfer Conference 9, 1990
An experimental program has been conducted to investigate the onset of Ledinegg instability in vertical down-flow. For three size uniformly heated test sections with L/D ratios from 100 to 150, the pressure drop under subcooled boiling conditions has been obtained for a wide range of operating parameters.

Advancing Electronic Application of Coordination Solids: Enhancing Electron Transport and Device Integration via Surface‐Mounted MOFs (SURMOFs)

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The layer‐by‐layer (LbL) assembly of coordination solids, enabled by the surface‐mounted metal‐organic framework (SURMOF) platform, is on the cusp of generating the organic counterpart of the epitaxy of inorganics. The programmable and sequential SURMOF protocol, optimized by machine learning (ML), is suited for accessing high‐quality thin films of ...

Flow boiling in copper and aluminium microchannels

open access: yesInternational Journal of Heat and Mass Transfer, 2022

Thermohydrodynamics of boiling in a van der Waals fluid [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
We present a modeling approach that enables numerical simulations of a boiling Van der Waals fluid based on the diffuse interface description. A boundary condition is implemented that allows in and out flux of mass at constant external pressure.

Biodegradable and Recyclable Luminescent Mixed‐Matrix‐Membranes, Hydrogels, and Cryogels based on Nanoscale Metal‐Organic Frameworks and Biopolymers

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The study presents biodegradable and recyclable mixed‐matrix membranes (MMMs), hydrogels, and cryogels using luminescent nanoscale metal‐organic frameworks (nMOFs) and biopolymers. These bio‐nMOF‐MMMs combine europium‐based nMOFs as probes for the status of the materials with the biopolymers agar and gelatine and present alternatives to conventional ...

Selective Benzene Capture by Metal‐Organic Frameworks

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Metal‐organic frameworks (MOFs) hold significant potential for capturing benzene from air emissions and hydrocarbon mixtures in liquid phases. This capability stems from their precisely engineered structures, versatile chemistries, and diverse binding interactions.
