Study on the Hydrodynamic Performance of Typical Underwater Bionic Foils with Spanwise Flexibility

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2017
Bionic foils are usually similar in shape to the locomotive organs of animals living in fluid media, which is helpful in the analysis of the motion mode and hydrodynamic mechanisms of biological prototypes.

Study on the Trajectory of Free-End Fiber in Jet Vortex Spinning Based on the Elastic Thin-Rod Finite Element Model of Flexible Fiber

open access: yesAUTEX Research Journal, 2020
During the air flow twisting process of jet vortex spinning, the moving characteristics of flexible free-end fiber are complex. In this paper, the finite element model of the fiber is established based on elastic thin rod element.

Targeting TNBC: core–shell polycationic polyurea dendrimers with inherent anticancer activity

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Core–shell polycationic PURE dendrimers were tested in TNBC‐derived tumor models. Both formulations selectively targeted TNBC and effectively reduced tumor volume. PUREG4‐OEI48 suppressed tumor growth without detectable toxicity, whereas PUREG4‐OCEI24, despite showing efficacy, induced hepatic toxicity.

Metformin promotes mitochondrial integrity through AMPK‐signaling in Leber's hereditary optic neuropathy

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Metformin mediates mitochondrial quality control in Leber's hereditary optic neuropathy (LHON) fibroblasts carrying mtDNA mutations. At therapeutic levels, metformin activates AMPK signaling to restore mitochondrial dynamics by promoting fusion and restraining fission, while preserving mitochondrial mass, enhancing autophagy/mitophagy and biogenesis ...

Investigations of three dimensional flow characteristics in a three bladed rocket pump inducer [PDF]

open access: yes
Because of the long and narrow passages between the blades of a rocket pump inducer, major effects from turbulence and viscosity make the flow through such a device truly three-dimensional and therefore difficult to measure or predict. To investigate the

KLK7 overexpression promotes an aggressive phenotype and facilitates peritoneal dissemination in colorectal cancer cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
KLK7, a tissue kallikrein‐related peptidase, is elevated in advanced colorectal cancer and associated with shorter survival. High KLK7 levels in ascites correlate with peritoneal metastasis. In mice, KLK7 overexpression increases metastasis. In vitro, KLK7 enhances cancer cell proliferation, migration, adhesion, and spheroid formation, driving ...

An experimental study of airfoil-spoiler aerodynamics [PDF]

open access: yes
The steady/unsteady flow field generated by a typical two dimensional airfoil with a statically deflected flap type spoiler was investigated. Subsonic wind tunnel tests were made over a range of parameters: spoiler deflection, angle of attack, and two ...

Numerical calculations of pressure oscillations in a side-dump ramjet engine [PDF]

open access: yes, 1984
Pressure oscillations in a side-dump ramjet engine have been studied, using a one-dimensional numerical analysis. The engine is treated in two parts; the inlet section, including a region of two-phase flow downstream of fuel injection, and a dump ...

Characteristics of Dual Transverse Injection in Supersonic Flow Fields I-Mixing Characteristics [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Korean Society for Aeronautical & Space Sciences, 2002
Based on the analyses of the single transverse injection in supersonic flow fields, the mixing characteristics of dual transverse injection of hydrogen in supersonic air flow are studied with computational methods. Three-dimensional Navier -Stokes and the k- SST turbulence model were used.

A light‐triggered Time‐Resolved X‐ray Solution Scattering (TR‐XSS) workflow with application to protein conformational dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering captures how proteins change shape in real time under near‐native conditions. This article presents a practical workflow for light‐triggered TR‐XSS experiments, from data collection to structural refinement. Using a calcium‐transporting membrane protein as an example, the approach can be broadly applied to study ...
