Aerodynamic structures and processes in rotationally augmented flow fields

open access: yesWind Energy, 2007
AbstractRotational augmentation of horizontal axis wind turbine blade aerodynamics currently remains incompletely characterized and understood. To address this, the present study concurrently analysed experimental measurements and computational predictions, both of which were unique and of high quality.

Re‐Irradiation in Pediatric Diffuse Midline Glioma: A Multi‐Institutional Retrospective Study

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Children with recurrent diffuse midline gliomas (DMGs) have limited therapeutic options at recurrence. Re‐irradiation (RT2) may be used at progression, but with uncertainty about the benefit. Methods We conducted a multi‐institutional retrospective study of children aged < 18 with DMG treated at three centers (Toronto, Canada ...

Fast prediction of the performance of the centrifugal pump based on reduced-order model

open access: yesEnergy Reports, 2023
In the present paper, the prediction of the performance of a centrifugal pump is investigated based on proper orthogonal decomposition (POD) reduced-order model (ROM).

Detection of first-order structure in optic flow fields

open access: yesVision Research, 1996
We measured psychophysical thresholds for the detection of four different optic flow components in the presence of a translational velocity. We also measured thresholds for detection of rotation in the presence of expansion and for expansion in the presence of rotation. Our stimuli consisted of sparse random dot patterns.

Bridging the Gap in Neuroblastoma Care: Consensus‐Based Statements With Recommendations for Improved Patient and Caregiver Experiences

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Neuroblastoma's complex, heterogeneous biology poses significant diagnostic and therapeutic challenges, often requiring caregivers to absorb complex information and participate in time‐sensitive decisions. However, caregivers often feel unprepared to evaluate options.

Ovarian Sex Cord Stromal Tumors in Children and Adolescents—The European Standard Clinical Practice Recommendations

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT As part of the European Cooperative Study Group for Paediatric Rare Tumours initiative, we developed standard clinical practice guidelines for ovarian sex cord stromal tumors, based on comprehensive national and international cohort analyses, literature review, and a final expert consensus conference.

Effect of Wide-Spectrum Pulsed Magnetic Field on Solidification Structure of Pure Al at Constant Flow Velocity

open access: yesMetals, 2023
The electromagnetic force generated by a pulsed magnetic field within a metal melt leads to changes in the internal temperature and flow fields of the molten metal, thus improving the solidification of the metal structure.

A Study on the Structure of the Flow Field in Premixed Jet Flames

open access: yesTRANSACTIONS OF THE JAPAN SOCIETY OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERS Series B, 1983
In this paper, detailed data on flow fields in premixed jet flames are systematically collected to know their structure over the whole region. It was found from the measurements by LDV that the correlation of axial and radial velocity fluctuations -(u'v')^^- shows a remarkable negative value near the flame front (F.F.), and that a change in the sign of

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.
