The Open Porous Media Flow reservoir simulator
The Open Porous Media (OPM) initiative is a community effort that encourages open innovation and reproducible research for simulation of porous media processes. OPM coordinates collaborative software development, maintains and distributes open-source software and open data sets, and seeks to ensure that these are available under a free license in a ...

On laminar flow of non-newtonian fluids in porous media
S.253-264Flow of generalized Newtonian fluids in porous media can be modeled as a bundle of capillary tubes or a pore-scale network. In general, both approaches rely on the solution of Hagen-Poiseuille equation using power law to estimate the variations ...

Performance Analysis of Abradable Coating Systems for Aircraft Gas Turbines
Three CoNiCrAlY/YSZ/MgAl2O4 abradable liner configurations on a nickel‐superalloy are evaluated by thermal‐gradient cycling and incursion tests. Laser ablation of the bondcoat and/or Y2O3‐stabilized ZrO2 (YSZ) intermediate layer increases mechanical interlocking and bonding for thick topcoats.

Numerical simulation of two-phase inertial flow in heterogeneous porous media [PDF]
We wish to thank our students, Y. Benarafa and S. Delau, who participated in this study at its early stage. In this study, non-Darcy inertial two-phase incompressible and non-stationary flow in heterogeneous porous media is analyzed using numerical ...

A simplified thermoplastic pultrusion model is developed to predict thermal fields in glass fiber/polyethylene terephthalate (GF/PET) composites with reduced computational cost. By combining effective material homogenization, validation against literature data, and Gaussian‐process‐based optimization, the study reveals how heating limits, pulling speed,

Generally, the momentum equation of fluid flow in porous media was solved by neglecting the terms of diffusion and convection such as Ergun, Darcy, Brinkman and Forchheimer models. Their model primarily applied for laminar flow.

Analysis of the Flow at the Interface of a Porous Media [PDF]
The influence of inserting ceramic foam in a pipe with a 1:4 sudden expansion was numerical investigated. The foam, with a thickness to diameter ratio of 0.60, was positioned at different distances from the sudden pipe expansion wall. Three different porosities were analyzed (10, 20 and 60 pores per inch) for pore Reynolds numbers in the range of 20 ...

Flow in Porous Media with Fractures of Varying Aperture
We study single-phase flow in a fractured porous medium at a macroscopic scale that allows to model fractures individually. The flow is governed by Darcy's law in both fractures and porous matrix. We derive a new mixed-dimensional model, where fractures are represented by $(n-1)$-dimensional interfaces between $n$-dimensional subdomains for $n\ge 2 ...
