Large scale sand liquefaction flow slide tests revisited

2012
Massive failure of submerged slopes form a major threat for many dikes along estuaries in the Netherlands, the subsoil of which consists of alternating layers of loosely packed and more densely packed sand. Static liquefaction in the loosely packed sand plays an important role.

Onset Condition for Liquefaction and Consequent Flow

1996
Abstract In the preceding chapters, laboratory testing on reconstituted samples has been recognized as a useful tool for making the most conservative estimate of the residual strength of in situ sands. A similar argument may be developed as to the cyclic strength controlling the triggering of liquefaction.

An Entropy Flow Optimization Technique for Helium Liquefaction Cycles

1984
Several potential applications of superconducting technology require large size refrigerators/liquefiers for cooling. The capital cost of such large size refrigerators is small compared with the operating cost. Therefore there is an emphatic need for highly efficient refrigerators.

Triggering of liquefaction flow slides in coastal soil deposits

Engineering Geology, 1988
Abstract Liquefaction flow slides have been observed in coastal soil deposits throughout the world. The causes of many of these slides have never been well understood. The materials involved in and circumstances surrounding eight reported liquefaction flow slides are reviewed and compared.
