Anchorage‐independent and faster growth in clonal population from UV‐irradiated NER‐deficient cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
UV‐irradiated cells expressing a DDB2 mutant protein unable to interact with PCNA (DDB2PCNA‐) form clones able to grow without anchorage. Different experimental approaches reveal heterogeneity in cell cycle regulation and drug response within these clones, emphasizing the crucial role of the DDB2‐PCNA interaction in preventing cellular transformation ...

Prediction model for pressure loss of sphere column assembly in goaf and flow characteristics of porous media

open access: yesMeitan xuebao
As coal mines are mined deeper, the risk of thermodynamic disasters increases, and rapid prediction of flow loss in the goaf becomes key to precise fire prevention and extinguishing in coal mines.

A light‐triggered Time‐Resolved X‐ray Solution Scattering (TR‐XSS) workflow with application to protein conformational dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering captures how proteins change shape in real time under near‐native conditions. This article presents a practical workflow for light‐triggered TR‐XSS experiments, from data collection to structural refinement. Using a calcium‐transporting membrane protein as an example, the approach can be broadly applied to study ...

Effects of flow rate, shrinkage ratio and sediment content on head loss in triangular central measuring tanks

open access: yesGuan'gai paishui xuebao
【Objective】The triangular central measuring tank is widely used in irrigation systems for flow measurement and sediment transport monitoring. However, head loss in the tank, influenced by hydraulic and sediment parameters, affects its measurement ...

A study of the structural-acoustic response and interior noise levels of fuselage structures [PDF]

open access: yes
Models of both flat and curved fuselage panels were tested for their sound transmission characteristics. The effect of external air flow on transmission loss was simulated in a subsonic wind-tunnel. By numerically evaluating the known equations for field-

Promiscuous stimulation of HSP70 ATPase activity by parasite‐derived J‐domains

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum exports three highly homologous yet functionally divergent J‐domain proteins into human erythrocytes. Here, we show that J‐domains isolated from all three proteins effectively stimulate the ATPase activity of both endogenous host and exported parasite HSP70 chaperones.

Single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assays for high‐throughput DNA–protein interaction studies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We describe an optimised single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assay that visualises DNA–protein interactions in real time. Linear DNA fragments are tethered to a surface and stretched by buffer flow for fluorescence imaging. Using λ and φX174 DNA, this protocol enhances reproducibility and accessibility, providing a versatile approach for studying diverse ...

Performance of large-bore tapered-roller bearings under combined radial and thrust load at shaft speeds to 15,000 rpm [PDF]

open access: yes
The performance of 120.65-mm bore tapered roller bearings was investigated at shaft speeds up to 15,000 rpm. Temperature distribution and bearing heat generation were determined as a function of shaft speed, radial and thrust loads, lubricant flow rate ...

Matrix metalloproteinase‐9 regulates cell adhesion and membrane protrusive activity of ovarian cancer cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Matrix metalloproteinase‐9 (MMP9) drives ovarian cancer progression. Using MMP9‐null cells (M9‐KO) created from ovarian cancer cells, we found MMP9 loss did not block Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF)‐driven E‐cadherin dissolution or EMT but delayed and reduced EGF‐driven membrane protrusions. Transient MMP9 re‐expression drove membrane protrusion.

Effect of Flow Splitters on Energy Loss in C-Type Piano Key Weirs

open access: yesJournal of Engineering and Sustainable Development
Piano key weirs (PKWs) are a new type of labyrinth weirs. They have a longer crest length within a limited width and, unlike linear weirs, ultimately have a higher discharge coefficient. The higher energy loss in PKWs can reduce scour.
