Sirolimus for Extracranial Arteriovenous Malformations: A Scoping Review of the Evidence in Syndromic and Non‐Syndromic Cases

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) are rare, high‐flow, vascular anomalies that can occur either sporadically or as part of a genetic syndrome. AVMs can progress with serious morbidity and even mortality if left unchecked. Sirolimus is an mTOR inhibitor that is effective in low‐flow vascular malformations; however, its role in AVMs is unclear.

Evaluating the Utility of Paired Tumor and Germline Targeted DNA Sequencing for Pediatric Oncology Patients: A Single Institution Report

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To evaluate the diagnostic yield and utility of universal paired tumor–normal multigene panel sequencing in newly diagnosed pediatric solid and central nervous system (CNS) tumor patients and to compare the detection of germline pathogenic/likely pathogenic variants (PV/LPVs) against established clinical referral criteria for cancer ...

The Impact of Geometry of Rudder-like Flume on Its Performance and Accuracy

open access: yesGuan'gai paishui xuebao, 2022
【Objective】 Flume is a hydraulic device widely used in hydraulic engineering projects. Its performance depends on many factors. In this paper, we explore the alignment of measuring flume with smooth flow, stable flow pattern, accurate flow measurement ...

Dynamics of the radiative envelope of rapidly rotating stars: Effects of spin-down driven by mass loss

open access: yes, 2014
(abridged) This paper aims at deciphering the dynamics of the envelope of a rotating star when some angular momentum loss due to mass loss is present. We especially wish to know when the spin-down flow forced by the mass loss supersedes the baroclinic ...

Prevalence and Trajectory of Household Material Hardship Among Children With Advanced Cancer

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background/Objectives Families of children with advanced cancer living in poverty experience inferior outcomes including poor parent mental health and worse child quality of life. Household material hardship (HMH: food, housing, transportation, and/or utility insecurity) is a modifiable poverty exposure—and potential intervention target—that ...

Linear/Quadratic Programming-Based Optimal Power Flow using Linear Power Flow and Absolute Loss Approximations

open access: yes, 2017
This paper presents novel methods to approximate the nonlinear AC optimal power flow (OPF) into tractable linear/quadratic programming (LP/QP) based OPF problems that can be used for power system planning and operation.

Two Faces of NOTCH1 in Childhood Lymphoblastic T‐Cell Neoplasia: Prognostic Divergence of Mutational and Structural Aberrations

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT In pediatric patients, T‐cell lymphoblastic lymphoma (T‐LBL) survival exceeds 80%. Relapse remains associated with limited curative options. Frontline treatment is largely extrapolated from T‐cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T‐ALL) treatment, reflecting the ongoing debate, whether both entities represent distinct diseases or variants within ...

Fouling of Reverse Osmosis (RO) and Nanofiltration (NF) Membranes by Low Molecular Weight Organic Compounds (LMWOCs), Part 2: Countermeasures and Applications

open access: yesMembranes
Fouling, particularly from organic fouling and biofouling, poses a significant challenge in the RO/NF treatment of marginal waters, especially wastewater. Part 1 of this review detailed LMWOC fouling mechanisms.
