The mathematical modelling of turbulent flows

open access: yesApplied Mathematical Modelling, 1986
This paper reviews the problems and successes of computing turbulent flow. Most of the flow phenomena that are important to modern technology involve turbulence. Apart from pure academic interest, there is therefore a practical need for designers to be able to predict quantitatively the behaviour of turbulent flows. The review is concerned with methods

Integrative transcriptomic analysis identifies emetine as a promising candidate for overcoming acquired resistance to ALK inhibitors in lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We propose an efficient strategy to suppress ALK inhibitor (ALKi) resistance. By analyzing transcriptome data, we identified emetine as a potential inhibitor. We demonstrated that emetine exhibited effectiveness in inhibiting the growth of ALKi‐resistant cells, and further interpreted its impact on the resistant signatures through drug‐induced RNA ...

Soret and dufour impacts on radiative power-law fluid flow via continuously stretchable surface with varying viscosity and thermal conductivity

open access: yesScientific Reports
The intricate dynamics of mixed convective thermic and species transport in a power-law flowing fluid through a continuously stretched surface are investigated. The uniqueness of this study lies in the consideration of fluid variable thermic conductivity

The electronic structures and optical properties of B, C or N doped BaTiO3

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2018
The electronic structures and optical properties of Boron, Carbon or Nitrogen doped BaTiO3 are calculated by the first-principles calculations. The doped atoms decrease the band gap of BaTiO3 significantly, which could increase the host material ability ...

Numerical study of nano-biofilm stagnation flow from a nonlinear stretching/shrinking surface with variable nanofluid and bioconvection transport properties

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2021
A mathematical model is developed for stagnation point flow toward a stretching or shrinking sheet of liquid nano-biofilm containing spherical nano-particles and bioconvecting gyrotactic micro-organisms.

Stability analysis of the Witten black hole (cigar soliton) under world-sheet RG flow

open access: yes, 2012
We analyze the stability of the Euclidean Witten black hole (the cigar soliton in mathematics literature) under first-order RG (Ricci) flow of the world-sheet sigma model. This analysis is from the target space point of view.

Qualitative properties of mathematical model for data flow

open access: yesNetworks & Heterogeneous Media, 2021
<p style='text-indent:20px;'>In this paper, properties of a recently proposed mathematical model for data flow in large-scale asynchronous computer systems are analyzed. In particular, the existence of special weak solutions based on propagating fronts is established.

Unraveling epigenetic heterogeneity across gastrointestinal adenocarcinomas through a standardized analytical framework

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study shows that patients with gastrointestinal adenocarcinomas can be stratified into six distinct subtypes based on genome‐scale DNA methylation profiling. This stratification, achieved using a robust analytical framework, aligns with established tumor characteristics and holds potential to support prognostication.

A Morse complex for infinite dimensional manifolds - Part I [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
In this paper and in the forthcoming Part II we introduce a Morse complex for a class of functions f defined on an infinite dimensional Hilbert manifold M, possibly having critical points of infinite Morse index and coindex.

Segregation of Flowing Blood: Mathematical Description [PDF]

open access: yesMathematical Modelling of Natural Phenomena, 2011
Blood rheology is completely determined by its major corpuscles which are erythro- cytes, or red blood cells (RBCs). That is why understanding and correct mathematical description of RBCs behavior in blood is a critical step in modelling the blood dynamics.
