Surface Characteristics Modification by Plasma Flow

2006 International Symposium on Discharges and Electrical Insulation in Vacuum, 2006
In the modern technologies the various plasma treatment methods are widely used. The essential advantage of these methods are possibility to work with the dielectric and semi-conductor targets. One of possible utilization area of these technologies can be the creation of anisotropy of surface properties of materials.

Modifications to a commercial flow microcalorimeter system

Journal of Chemical Technology and Biotechnology. Chemical Technology, 1983
AbstractCommercially available calorimetry systems now account for the major portion of thermochemical research. A number of simple modifications to one such calorimeter have been found to maintain the accuracy and precision of the data obtained while achieving increased efficiency and reduced cost.

Modification of the Runcorn's equations on convection flows

Studia Geophysica et Geodaetica, 1988
Runcorn's equations, which can be used to compute the stresses caused by convection flows from the outer gravity field, were transformed so that gravity anomalies or geoid heights can be employed as input data.

Modification of gas flow by charged particles

Proceedings of 1994 IEEE Industry Applications Society Annual Meeting, 2002
The effect of micron-diameter charged particles on gas flow characteristics in an uniform electric field is experimentally investigated in rectangular electrostatic precipitator duct at 0.8 m/s and flow Reynolds number of 2600. Particles are uniformly distributed in the flow at 10/sup -5/ kg/m/sup 3/.

A quantitative modification of flow cytometry (FCM)

SPIE Proceedings, 2003
A simple method was found to solve the shortage in the cell size measurement of flow cytometry (FCM). The real-time result can be give out by measure the laser intensity absorbed by the dyed cells. Cooperation with FCM, the distribution of cell size can be got.

Modification of the Flow Structures in a Swirling Jet

2009
The effect of a downstream bluff body on upstream vortex breakdown has been investigated in an open-flow, motivated by the potential for tissue culture in swirling flow bioreactors. A sphere was placed on the central axis of a swirling jet issuing into a tank of stagnant water. The position of the stagnation point of a vortex breakdown was tracked as a

Dilute polystyrene solutions in extensional flows: Birefringence and flow modification

Journal of Non-Newtonian Fluid Mechanics, 1987
Abstract The coil—stretch transition in dilute polymer solutions has been studied using four- and two-roll mills to generate two-dimensional extensional flows. Flow birefringence measurements give the polymer conformation in the flow, while velocity gradient measurements using homodyne light scattering reveal the effects of the polymer on the flow ...

Secondary Flow Measurements in a Turbine Passage With Endwall Flow Modification

Journal of Turbomachinery, 2000
A flow modification technique is introduced in an attempt to allow increased turbine inlet temperatures. A large-scale two half-blade cascade simulator is used to model the secondary flow between two adjacent turbine blades. Various flow visualization techniques and measurements are used to verify that the test section replicates the flow of an actual ...
