Airslide flows. Part 2—Flow modeling and comparison with experiments

Chemical Engineering Science, 2013
Airslides are commonly used to transport dry particulate materials over distances as long as 1 km. Air is pumped through the porous bed of the transport channel to fluidize the granular material and to promote the flow down very small bed slopes. Current design of airslides is based on empirical design charts and past experiences.

Detecting is-a and part-of Relations in Heterogeneous Data Flow

2005
The KIWI project developed a platform called OntoExtractor enabling semi-automatic extraction of ontologies. This platform is composed of different modules. A first module extract typical instances from a data flow. A second module propose some topological relations among the detected classes.

Laterally converging flow. Part 1. Mean flow

Journal of Fluid Mechanics, 1983
Laterally converging flow occurs between two parallel surfaces with an exit hole formed in one. The present study examines the flow at a distance from the exit as a means of investigating an accelerating radial internal flow induced by the lateral convergence and satisfying the boundary-layer approximations.

Throttling intensification of the flow part of flow control regulators

Atomic Energy, 2012
The objective of this article is to validate the possibility of increasing the effectiveness of flow-part throttling to produce intensified flow control regulators which are stable and noise-, vibration-free in their entire operating range while preserving the required parameters and lowering the flow velocity. The problems arising during the operation

On the usefulness of optical flow for robotic part manipulation

Proceedings IROS '91:IEEE/RSJ International Workshop on Intelligent Robots and Systems '91, 2002
This paper describes experience gained in using optical flow fields, arising from constrained camera motion, to estimate range information, for robotic part manipulation. Several key issues in robot vision are addressed. These include the computation of optical flow, computation of depth, interpolation of depth values, model construction, object ...

Managing the flow of intelligent parts

Robotics and Computer-Integrated Manufacturing, 1988
Abstract Advances in computer technology have brought the feasibility of intelligent system components to fuitation. Within the manufacturing environment, the regulation of parts' value-adding operations from entry into the system to completion as a finished product now can be individualized to depend on part specific information.
