Heat flow map of the European part of the U.S.S.R.

pure and applied geophysics, 1978
A heat flow isoline map is presented. Low and relatively constant heat flow has been observed in the old shield areas of the East European Platform (25–40 mW/m2). Increased heat flow (>50 mW/m2) has been found in the Dniepr-Donetz depression. The area south of the East European Platform is characterized by highly variable heat flow (55–100 mW/m2). Some

Flow meters: Part 1

IEEE Instrumentation & Measurement Magazine, 2009
This tutorial has focused on the importance of accurate measurement by flow meters in industrial applications and what is necessary to provide accuracy. The properties of fluid flow are discussed in relation to how these properties affect the measurement by flow meters.

Flow through a convergence. Part 1: Critical conditions for unstable flow

Polymer Engineering & Science, 2002
Abstract The critical conditions leading to fracture in elongation and different types of flow instabilities were examined in uniaxial elongation and in a capillary rheometer equipped with dies having different entry profiles. Either ductile or brittle fracture may be observed, ductile being related to necking of material.

Part II Capital Flows and Capital Flow Management Policies

2023
The high exposure of open economies to shocks makes them particularly vulnerable to volatile capital flows and advanced economy monetary policy spillovers. How should and do domestic policymakers respond? The traditional answer has been to use flexible exchange rates as a shock absorber.

Study of the Acoustic Oscillations by Flows Over Cavities: Part 1 — Internal Flows

5th International Symposium on Fluid Structure Interaction, Aeroelasticity, and Flow Induced Vibration and Noise, 2002
We present a study of acoustic oscillations induced by an internal airflow over a shallow and a deep cavity. The Kelvin-Helmholtz instability is interacting with an acoustic mode of the duct, leading to a resonance which produces a very high sound level. The influence of upstream boundary layer thickness and neck thickness is studied.

Flow between rotating disks. Part 1. Basic flow

Journal of Fluid Mechanics, 1983
Laser-Doppler velocity measurements were obtained in water between finite rotating disks, with and without throughflow, in four cases: ω1 = ω2 = 0; ω2/ω1 = −1; ω2/ω1 = 0; ω2/ω1 = 1. The equilibrium flows are unique, and at mid-radius they show a high degree of independence from boundary conditions in r.

Flow Around a Simplified Car, Part 2: Understanding the Flow

Journal of Fluids Engineering, 2005
Results of a large eddy simulation (LES) are used to explore the flow around a generic car model. A new, refined picture of this flow is established. Many parts and aspects of this flow are studied and explained. The development of the instantaneous flow and its resulting time-averaged flow are depicted.

Complex Flow Dynamics in Dense Granular Flows: Part I — Experimentation; Part II — Simulations

Volume 1: Symposia, Parts A and B, 2005
PART I: By applying a methodology useful for analysis of complex fluids based on a synergistic combination of experiments, computer simulations and theoretical investigation, a model was built to investigate the fluid dynamics of granular flows in an intermediate regime where both collisional and frictional interactions may affect the flow behavior. In

Rheology of PVC; part IV: Particulate flow

Journal of Vinyl Technology, 1985
Abstract The behavior of polyvinyl chloride, (PVC), formulation changes drastically with the temperature and the method of sample preparation. In the steady state shear mode, upon a decrease of the rate of deformation, the data may show either a steady increase of the shear viscosity or leveling off to a Newtonian

The Analysis of the Entrance Flow into a Slit. Part I

Transactions of the Society of Rheology, 1976
This analysis, using existing basic hydro-dynamic theory for the entrance conditions into slits, has resulted in easily provable equations in this approximation, valid for Newtonian liquids without the complication of inertia (Reynolds number). This assumption is proved to be valid for the flows discussed. Furthermore, the limits of the existing theory
