Simplified Flow Rate Control for Intraocular Irrigation

Archives of Ophthalmology, 1980
A simple regulator, used for flow rate control of intraocular irrigating fluids, can prevent hypotonia and result in cost saving.

Flow scheduling and endpoint rate control in GridNetworks

Future Generation Computer Systems, 2009
In grid networks, distributed resources, computing or storage elements as well as scientific instruments are interconnected to support computing-intensive and data-intensive applications. To facilitate the efficient scheduling of these resources, we propose to manage the movements of massive data set between them.

Game Based Flow Rate Control for Networks

First International Conference on Innovative Computing, Information and Control - Volume I (ICICIC'06), 2006
Traditional rate control protocols for networks such as TCP require cooperation between traffic sources to achieve optimal network performance. However, traffic sources may not be cooperative due to a widely heterogeneous demand of end-users. We propose a flow rate control framework using noncooperative game theory.

QoS control mechanism based on flow rate to improve quality of short flows and low-rate flows

2010 IEEE Network Operations and Management Symposium - NOMS 2010, 2010
The dominant IP traffic is moving from Web to peer-to-peer (P2P) these days. As a result, elephant flows consume bandwidth and unfairness in resources allocation occurs. The main packet-scheduling mechanism currently employed is first-in first-out (FIFO) where the available bandwidth of short flows is limited by elephant flows.

Adaptive rate control for streaming flows over the Internet

Multimedia Systems, 2004
The existing end-to-end TCP congestion control algorithm is well suited for applications that are not sensitive to delay jitter and abrupt changes of the transmission rate, such as FTP data transfer, but it is not recommended for delivering video data, whose perceived quality is sensitive to delay jitter and changes in the sending rate.

An algorithm for flow and rate control of XTP

Proceedings of ICC '93 - IEEE International Conference on Communications, 2002
In the XTP, the receiver responds with a CNTL PDU containing ALLOC, RATE, and BURST to update state variables for flow and rate control at the sender. The authors propose an algorithm to determine values of ALLOC, RATE, and BURST based on the status of the buffer at the receiver and evaluate the performance of this algorithm via simulation.

CONTROL OF THE FLOW RATE IN AN OUTFLOW LINE

IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 2002
Abstract In this paper, the control of liquid flow is studied. An elastic line that transports elastic liquid is investigated. The effect of control on a hydraulic impact at the outflow line is discussed. Mathematical model of impact propagation is presented. The congruence of measured and computed results is demonstrated.

Converter rating powers of unified power flow controller

IEEE Power Engineering Society Summer Meeting,, 2003
Converter loadings of Unified Power Flow Controller (UPFC) within alleviation of voltage stability problem represents main concern of this paper. The UPFC is analysed as the device, which provides voltage support and/or co-ordinating power flow control action.

A Rate Controller for Long-Lived TCP Flows

2002
In this paper a new mechanism for providing an assured rate to a long-lived TCP flow is proposed. The mechanism is called TCP rate controller (TRC) and operates as a traffic conditioner at the edge of a network. The TRC seeks to achieve the requested rate by imposing well directed drops and (artificial) delays on the flow's packets.
