Flow-Based Simulation Methodology

IEEE Computer Architecture Letters, 2018
This paper presents flow-based simulation, a new methodology for evaluating novel and intricate computer system designs. The main idea of flow-based simulation is to keep the history of every simulated memory element, instead of its latest value, to make it time bonded so that sliding the time forward and backward changes the state of the system ...

Simulation of Flow in the Silk Gland

Biomacromolecules, 2008
Spiders and silkworms employ the complex flow of highly concentrated silk solution as part of silk fiber spinning. To understand the role of fluidic forces in this process, the flow of silk solution in the spider major ampullate and silkworm silk glands was investigated using numerical simulation.

Simulation of the Flow in a Human Nose

2010
The human nose is a very complex organ. The main airways together with a multiplicity of nasal cavities and sinuses are involved in the various functions of the nose. It warms and humidifies the inspired air, filters out small particles and supports the olfaction process by transporting odor-bearing particles to the muscous membranes.

Neurovascular flow simulation review

Neurological Research, 1998
Computer simulation of the cerebral circulation has been carried out for three decades. We review the developments of cerebral circulation computer models of the last 30 years. Existing models are discussed in terms of fluid dynamics and possible clinical usage. Also the status and new achievements in some related research areas are summarized. Any new

Simulation of traffic flows in a network

Communications of the ACM, 1969
A computer simulation program which deals with traffic flows in the network of a large area is described. Each road is segmented into blocks of several ten-meter lengths and is represented by a bidirectional list in computer memory. The movement of cars, i.e. the transfer of cars from one block to the next, is expressed by a proper formula.

Numerical simulation of glottal flow

Computers in Biology and Medicine, 2013
In cases of permanent immobility of both vocal folds patients have difficulties with breathing but rarely with voicing. However, clinical experience shows that the shape of the larynx (voice box) seems to have a significant influence on the degree of airflow and breathing pattern.

Simulation of Flow and Motion of Lifeboats

Volume 5: Polar and Arctic Sciences and Technology; CFD and VIV, 2009
Lifeboats are important for safety of passengers and crew on floating vessels and offshore platforms. They need to be designed so that evacuation can be performed quickly and safely in case of emergency. This requires that the lifeboat is not damaged during water entry, that it moves afterwards away from the dangerous area, and that accelerations ...

Flow-forming and flow formability simulation

The International Journal of Advanced Manufacturing Technology, 2008
Forward flow forming of tubes have been simulated using an explicit commercial finite element program. Variation of contact geometry considering plastic flow has been calculated based on the proposed criterion. Also flow formability of tube materials have been calculated during forward flow-forming process.

Numerical Simulation of Incompressible Fluid Flows

Concurrency: Practice and Experience, 1990
AbstractIn this paper we discuss temporal, spatial, and architectural aspects of the numerical simulation of time‐dependent incompressible fluid flows. In particular, we consider: high‐order operator‐integration‐factor time‐splitting methods; sliding‐mesh spectral mortar‐element spatial discretizations; and data‐parallel distributed‐memory medium ...

Flow Simulation in Stochastic Porous Media

SIMULATION, 2000
A family of gamma distributions can be used to model the pore size distributions in a range of stochastic porous media. Our simu lator generates distributional and net flow data for different fluid flow regimes through such networks. The outputs from the simu lation show strong relationships between mean flow and the variance of pore radii for ...
