VERTICAL DISCRETIZATION IN TIDAL FLOW SIMULATIONS
International Journal for Numerical Methods in Fluids, 1996The authors propose an empirical law for vertical nodal placement in tidal flow simulations which depends on a single parameter. The usefulness of the approach is demonstrated through two-dimensional laterally averaged flows in synthetic estuaries.

Simulation of traffic flow at a signalized intersection
Journal of Statistical Mechanics: Theory and Experiment, 2008We have developed a Nagel–Schreckenberg cellular automata model for describing vehicular traffic flow at a single intersection. A set of traffic lights operating either in fixed time or in a traffic adaptive scheme controls the traffic flow. A closed boundary condition is applied to the streets, each of which conducts a unidirectional flow.

An Embedded Flow Simulation Methodology for Flow over Fence Simulations
2017In this paper, we report the development of embedding a flow simulation methodology (FSM) (Fasel HF, von Terzi DA, Sandberg RD (2006) A methodology for simulating compressible turbulent flows. J Appl Mech 3:405–412 [1]), (Weinmann M, Sandberg RD, Doolan C (2014) Tandem cylinder flow and noise predictions using a hybrid RANS/LES approach. Int. J.

Simulation of in-plane flow imaging
Concepts in Magnetic Resonance, 1999Two methods of simulating the imaging process in magnetic resonance (MR) are explained: namely, the k-space and the isochromat summation methods. The latter method is more closely related to the actual behavior of magnetic spins, and is used in the remainder of this work.

Numerical Simulation of a Flow Conditioner
2004During the last decade, numerical techniques have been used for the simulation of flow conditioners, and therefore a validation based on experimental data is necessary. In this paper the finite volumes technique is employed to model the use of the New Zanker flow conditioner under low-level disturbance conditions, such as those produced by an out of ...

Flow Simulations on Overlapping Grids
2002Computations on composite overlapping grids require a mix of structured and unstructured operations. We describe a computational framework for parallel computers using data parallel arrays for the structured component grids. The unstructured interpolation is efficiently parallelized outside the data parallel environment using MPI.

Abstract A physical flow analogy might be of considerable benefit in aiding the student in reasoning through the adjusting process of expenses topic in principles instruction. The purpose of this paper is to present such an analogy. When a business entity disburses money for any relatively short lived item to be used in the operation ...
