Peroxidasin enables melanoma immune escape by inhibiting natural killer cell cytotoxicity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Peroxidasin (PXDN) is secreted by melanoma cells and binds the NK cell receptor NKG2D, thereby suppressing NK cell activation and cytotoxicity. PXDN depletion restores NKG2D signaling and enables effective NK cell–mediated melanoma killing. These findings identify PXDN as a previously unrecognized immune evasion factor and a potential target to improve

Experiments on seepage-triggered cliff landslides using cohesive wet sand

open access: yesProgress in Earth and Planetary Science, 2022
Unsaturated wet sand possesses capillary cohesion that is lost when it becomes saturated. Thus, it can form a cliff, but a slide may be triggered upon saturation.

Finite element modeling of the joint action of flow slide and protective structure

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Research, 2021
Introduction. In the context of the problem of plane deformation, a finite-element model of a natural landslide slope is developed. It allows for the joint work of a flow slide and a protective engineering structure.

Crucial parameters for precise copy number variation detection in formalin‐fixed paraffin‐embedded solid cancer samples

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study shows that copy number variations (CNVs) can be reliably detected in formalin‐fixed paraffin‐embedded (FFPE) solid cancer samples using ultra‐low‐pass whole‐genome sequencing, provided that key (pre)‐analytical parameters are optimized.

UAV and field survey investigation of a landslide triggered debris flow and dam formation in Eastern Carpathians

open access: yesFrontiers in Earth Science
In the May–August period of 2010, major heavy rains impacted the Eastern Carpathians (Northeastern Romania), leading to flash floods and triggering numerous landslides.

Combining antibody conjugates with cytotoxic and immune‐stimulating payloads maximizes anti‐cancer activity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Methods to improve antibody–drug conjugate (ADC) treatment durability in cancer therapy are needed. We utilized ADCs and immune‐stimulating antibody conjugates (ISACs), which are made from two non‐competitive antibodies, to enhance the entry of toxic payloads into cancer cells and deliver immunostimulatory agents into immune cells.
