Quantum Dot-Based Optical Fiber Sensor for Flow Velocity Sensing at Low Initial Temperatures [PDF]

open access: yesSensors
The accurate monitoring of flow velocity is crucial in applications such as blood microcirculation and microfluidic systems. However, the high sensitivity of current hot wire flowmeters is often achieved at the expense of increasing the initial ...

Velocity distribution in a turbulent flow [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences, 2021
The article considers the issue of velocity distribution in a turbulent flow. The logarithmic velocity profile obtained on the basis of semiempirical theory of turbulence by L. Prandtl is given.

On Molecular Flow Velocity Meters [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Molecular, Biological and Multi-Scale Communications, 2021
Flow velocity is an important characteristic of the fluidic mediums. In this paper, we introduce a molecular based flow velocity meter consisting of a molecule releasing node and a receiver that counts these molecules. We consider both flow velocity detection and estimation problems, which are employed in different applications.

Effect of flow velocity on downstream energy absorbers and velocity coefficient [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences, 2023
As a result of designing an energy absorber in the zone of conjugation of water outlet structures of low-pressure and mediumpressure reservoirs, the stilling basin is not only under the influence of vertical hydrodynamic pressure with a variable value ...

Coherence of Velocity Fluctuations in Turbulent Flows [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2022
We investigate the spatio-temporal quantity of coherence for turbulent velocity fluctuations at spatial distances of the order or larger than the integral length scale $l_{0}$. Using controlled laboratory experiments, an exponential decay as a function of distance is observed with a decay rate which depends on the flow properties.

Monitoring of Yangtze River Discharge at Datong Hydrometric Station Using Acoustic Tomography Technology

open access: yesFrontiers in Earth Science, 2021
To continuously monitor the discharge of the Yangtze River, two coastal acoustic tomography (CAT) systems with synchronized transmission were deployed at the Datong hydrometric station of the Yangtze River from July 2018 to January 2021.

Ecohydrology: environmental flow and its driving factors

open access: yesShui kexue jinzhan, 2020
This paper discussed the general conceptions on environmental flow (e-flow). Emphasis was laid on relationship between the dynamic change of ecosystem and factors resulted by hydrological change especially by the change of flow velocity whereby to ...

Refinement of turbulent flow velocity characteristics [PDF]

open access: yesИнженерно-строительный журнал, 2013
The basic laws of Prandtl semi-empirical turbulence theory were analyzed in the article. It was shown, that the Prandtl – Nikuradse logarithmic distribution of velocities are not strictly universal. The change of the first and second turbulence constants

Seasonal variation in the Chironomidae (Diptera) communities of two Faroese streams

open access: yesCHIRONOMUS Journal of Chironomidae Research, 2023
Seasonal variation of freshwater invertebrate communities is strongly influenced by abiotic factors including temperature and precipitation which, in turn, are predicted to be affected by climate change. It is important to study these effects, not least
