Effect of aspect ratios on the natural convective heat transfer from rectangular heated horizontal plates facing downward

open access: yesNihon Kikai Gakkai ronbunshu, 2016
Natural convective heat transfer from downward-facing, heated rectangular plates to air has been investigated experimentally. Main concerns were directed to the influence of aspect ratios on the heat transfer from the plates.

4-Dimensional Flow by Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Informs Surgical Planning in Partial Anomalous Pulmonary Venous Return

open access: yesJACC: Case Reports, 2020
Four-dimensional flow cardiac magnetic resonance enhances the visualization of blood flow in a 3-dimensional volume throughout the cardiac cycle, thus dramatically improving visualization of pulmonary venous anatomy by cardiac magnetic resonance.

New techniques for experimental generation of two-dimensional blade-vortex interaction at low Reynolds numbers [PDF]

open access: yes
An experimental investigation of two dimensional blade vortex interaction was held at NASA Langley Research Center. The first phase was a flow visualization study to document the approach process of a two dimensional vortex as it encountered a loaded ...

Engineered extracellular vesicles enriched with the miR‐214/199a cluster enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...

Mass and Momentum Turbulent Transport Experiments [PDF]

open access: yes, 1983
The downstream mixing of coaxial jets discharging in an expanded duct was studied to improve turbulent transport models which are used in computational procedures throughout the propulsion community for combustor flow modeling. Laser velocimeter (LV) and

A new methodology for the quantitative visualization of coherent flow structures in alluvial channels using multibeam echo-sounding (MBES) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
In order to investigate the interactions between turbulence and suspended sediment transport in natural aqueous environments, we ideally require a technique that allows simultaneous measurement of fluid velocity and sediment concentration for the whole ...

IMPDH inhibition enhances cytarabine efficacy in SAMHD1‐expressing leukaemia cells via guanine nucleotide depletion

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.

Optimized Spatiotemporal Data Scheduling Based on Maximum Flow for Multilevel Visualization Tasks

open access: yesISPRS International Journal of Geo-Information, 2020
Massive spatiotemporal data scheduling in a cloud environment play a significant role in real-time visualization. Existing methods focus on preloading, prefetching, multithread processing and multilevel cache collaboration, which waste hardware resources

Evaluation of diffuse-illumination holographic cinematography in a flutter cascade [PDF]

open access: yes
Since 1979, the Lewis Research Center has examined holographic cinematography for three-dimensional flow visualization. The Nd:YAG lasers used were Q-switched, double-pulsed, and frequency-doubled, operating at 20 pulses per second.
