Response of alternate bearing of “Badamy sefid” Pistachio cultivar to foliar application of some macro and micro elements

open access: yesInternational Journal of Horticultural Science, 2010
Response of “Badamy sefid” Pistachio trees to spraying of fertilizer was studied over two years (2006–2007). The boron and zinc fertilizer were used just on swelling time of female flower bud in compare to no fertilization (control).

Flower Bud Hardiness of Forsythia Cultivars [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Environmental Horticulture, 1993
Abstract Winter hardiness profiles were developed for six Forsythia cultivars introduced in the last 10—15 years for superior flower bud hardiness. The cultivars ‘Meadowlark’, ‘Northern Gold’, ‘Northern Sun’, ‘New Hampshire Gold’, ‘Sunrise’, and ‘Vermont Sun’ were at least 2–4°C (4–7°F) more hardy than F. × intermedia and F.

Dental development in the tropical gar (Atractosteus tropicus) and the evolution of vertebrate dentitions

open access: yesDevelopmental Dynamics, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Dentitions have diversified enormously during vertebrate evolution, involving reductions, modifications, or allocations to prey seizing and processing regions. A combination of ancient and novel features related to dental and oropharyngeal apparatuses is found in extant lineages of non‐teleost fishes, such as the gars.

Data integration advances reproductive phenology research across temporal, spatial and taxonomic scales

open access: yesEcography, EarlyView.
Climate change is altering plant reproductive phenology; however, a scarcity of long‐term, systematic monitoring hinders our ability to quantify and predict these responses in many parts of the world. We addressed this gap by demonstrating how data integration can be used to produce a synthesised record of reproductive phenology observations (flowering

Comparative transcriptome analysis of nonchilled, chilled, and late-pink bud reveals flowering pathway genes involved in chilling-mediated flowering in blueberry

open access: yesBMC Plant Biology, 2018
Background Blueberry cultivars require a fixed quantity of chilling hours during winter endo-dormancy for vernalization. In this study, transcriptome analysis using RNA sequencing data from nonchilled, chilled, and late pink buds of southern highbush ...

Chitosan‐Based pH‐Responsive Films and Edible Coatings to Enhance Fruit Shelf‐Life: Impact of Plant Biomolecules and Composition

open access: yesFood Chemistry International, EarlyView.
Chitosan based coatings/films forming solution with the use ofplant extracts and parameters for fruit shelf life analysis. ABSTRACT Fresh fruits are a natural source of various minerals and vitamins, which are essential for human health. However, a rapid rate of respiration, water loss and fast ripening ability result in shorter shelf life and ...
