The State of the Art in Visualization Literacy

In this survey paper, we review 385 visualization literacy papers to understand the state of the field. We discuss 5 different types of research contributions, as well as 4 competency themes that capture the skills relevant to visualization literacy. Abstract Research in visualization literacy explores the skills required to engage with visualizations.

Summary Streptocarpus aylae T.J.Edwards, a spectacular, rosette forming herbaceous perennial from cliffs of the Msikaba River in Pondoland, Eastern Cape Province, South Africa is illustrated and discussed. The species is known from only two sites and is highly localised, growing in humus rich cracks and crevices on sandstone cliffs.

Natural Parasitism of Nezara viridula (Linnaeus) (Hemiptera: Pentatomidae) by Trichopoda pictipennis Bigot (Diptera: Tachinidae) in an Organic Strawberry Field in Germany

Natural parasitism of the invasive southern green stinkbug was recorded in an organic strawberry cropping system in southwestern Germany. The tachinid fly Trichopoda pictipennis shows successful establishment and field activity, indicating ongoing range expansion.
