Phenological aspects of the development of species of ornamental herbaceous vines in conditions of Forest-Steppe of Ukraine

open access: yesІнтродукція Рослин, 2015
The timing of the onset and duration of the main phenological phases of development (stairs, budding, bloom, fruiting) species of ornamental herbaceous vines at growing using seedlings or sowing in the Forest-Steppe of Ukraine are determined ...

Peroxidasin enables melanoma immune escape by inhibiting natural killer cell cytotoxicity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Peroxidasin (PXDN) is secreted by melanoma cells and binds the NK cell receptor NKG2D, thereby suppressing NK cell activation and cytotoxicity. PXDN depletion restores NKG2D signaling and enables effective NK cell–mediated melanoma killing. These findings identify PXDN as a previously unrecognized immune evasion factor and a potential target to improve

Snow tussocks, chaos, and the evolution of mast seeding [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
One hitherto intractable problem in studying mast seeding (synchronous intermittent heavy flowering by a population of perennial plants) is determining the relative roles of weather, plant reserves, and evolutionary selective pressures such as predator ...

Natural variation and CRISPR/Cas9‐mediated mutation in GmPRR37 affect photoperiodic flowering and contribute to regional adaptation of soybean

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, 2020
Summary Flowering time is a critical determinant of the geographic distribution and regional adaptability of soybean (Glycine max) and is strongly regulated by photoperiod and temperature.

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Phenology and fruit set comparison of camu-camu (Myrciaria dubia) in a natural population and a plantation in the central Amazon, Brazil [PDF]

open access: yesActa Amazonica
Myrciaria dubia (Myrtaceae) is a shrub that produces fruits with high concentrations of ascorbic acid (1380 to 1490 mg 100 g-1 of pulp and 2050 mg 100 g-1 of peel), 20 times more than acerola and 100 times more than lemon. Native to the Amazon region, it

RNA Levels and Activity of \u3cem\u3eFLOWERING LOCUS C\u3c/em\u3e are Modified in Mixed Genetic Backgrounds of \u3cem\u3eArabidopsis Thaliana\u3c/em\u3e [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
Flowering time and FLOWERING LOCUS C (FLC) RNA levels were analyzed in different accessions of Arabidopsis thaliana and in mixed genetic backgrounds resulting from crosses between accessions.

Assessing risks and benefits of floral supplements in conservation biological control [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The use of flowering field margins is often proposed as a method to support biological control in agro-ecosystems. In addition to beneficial insects, many herbivores depend on floral food as well.

Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.
