QTL mapping and genome-wide association study reveal two novel loci associated with green flesh color in cucumber

open access: yesBMC Plant Biology, 2019
Background Green flesh color, resulting from the accumulation of chlorophyll, is one of the most important commercial traits for the fruits. The genetic network regulating green flesh formation has been studied in tomato, melon and watermelon.

Analysis of codon usage pattern in Lonicera × heckrottii ‘Gold Flame’ based on chloroplast genome

open access: yesNotulae Botanicae Horti Agrobotanici Cluj-Napoca, 2022
Codon usage bias (CUB) was a unique feature of the genome, and revealing chloroplast genome codon usage bias can provide useful information for the evolution of plant species.

Genetic Variation and Divergence of Genes Involved in Leaf Adaxial-abaxial Polarity Establishment in Brassica rapa

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2016
Alterations in leaf adaxial–abaxial (ad-ab) polarity are one of the main factors that are responsible for leaf curvature. In Chinese cabbage, to form a leafy head, leaf incurvature is an essential prerequisite.

Development and comparative analysis of initiation ability in large-scale Heuchera propagation using tissue culture versus cuttings

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2023
The Heuchera genus, a member of the Saxifragaceae family, encompasses a wide array of varieties and hybrids, serving both traditional medicinal and ornamental purposes. However, a significant knowledge gap persists in achieving efficient mass propagation

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Phylogeny and expression analyses reveal important roles for plant PKS III family during the conquest of land by plants and angiosperm diversification

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2016
Polyketide synthases (PKSs) utilize the products of primary metabolism to synthesize a wide array of secondary metabolites in both prokaryotic and eukaryotic organisms. PKSs can be grouped into three distinct classes, type I, II, and III, based on enzyme

Molecular cloning and functional analysis of the pepper resistance gene Me3 to root-knot nematode

open access: yesHorticultural Plant Journal, 2023
Root-knot nematodes (RKNs) cause severe diseases in peppers annually around the world. In pepper, the Me3 gene provides a heat-stable and broad-spectrum resistance to RKNs.
