The Algebra of Flows in Graphs

open access: yesAdvances in Applied Mathematics, 1998
We define a contravariant functor K from the category of finite graphs and graph morphisms to the category of finitely generated graded abelian groups and homomorphisms. For a graph X, an abelian group B, and a nonnegative integer j, an element of Hom(K^j(X),B) is a coherent family of B-valued flows on the set of all graphs obtained by contracting some

L'evoluzione dell'infosfera come emergenza di un terzo connettoma

open access: yesPhilosophy Kitchen, 2015
Information flows and communicative interactions on social media, theWeb and the expanding Internet of things are changing the possibilities, the actual methods and models of interaction between human beings, objects and life environments.

Routing under Balance

open access: yes, 2016
We introduce the notion of balance for directed graphs: a weighted directed graph is $\alpha$-balanced if for every cut $S \subseteq V$, the total weight of edges going from $S$ to $V\setminus S$ is within factor $\alpha$ of the total weight of edges ...

Enteropathogenic E. coli shows delayed attachment and host response in human jejunum organoid‐derived monolayers compared to HeLa cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC) infects the human intestinal epithelium, resulting in severe illness and diarrhoea. In this study, we compared the infection of cancer‐derived cell lines with human organoid‐derived models of the small intestine. We observed a delayed in attachment, inflammation and cell death on primary cells, indicating that host ...

Low Streamflow Analysis in Yeşilırmak Basin

open access: yesDoğal Afetler ve Çevre Dergisi
Drought is generally defined as precipitation that drops significantly below recorded normal levels, negatively affecting soil and water resources in a region. Daily low flow indices are usually used for drought analysis. In this study, 7 and 30-day flow

Migration flows between levels of the Brazilian urban hierarchy in the period 1980-2010 [PDF]

open access: yesRevista Brasileira de Estudos de População, 2019
In the 1980s, an inflexion was observed in the spatial redistribution of the Brazilian population, attributed to the relative economic decentralization initiated in the 1970s, especially regarding industrial activities.

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Towards saturation attack detection in SDN: a multi-edge representation learning-based method

open access: yesJournal of King Saud University: Computer and Information Sciences
Saturation attack detection in Software-Defined Networking (SDN) focuses on identifying and mitigating flow table overflow attacks on switches and overload attacks on the SDN controller.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Entropy optimization in Darcy–Forchheimer MHD flow of water based copper and silver nanofluids with Joule heating and viscous dissipation effects

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2020
The irreversibility examination in steady flows of water based silver and copper nanofluids between two rotating disks is presented in this paper. The Darcy–Forchheimer relation is applied to the fluid flow.
