Multi-fractal fluctuation features of thermal power coal price in China

open access: yes, 2016
Within the current energy structure in China, coal consumption accounts for 60% of the total energy consumption. Understanding the features of coal prices is important to the energy industry as the prices have a profound impact on the energy development,

A Current Harmonic Minimum PWM for Three-Level Converters Aiming at the Low-Frequency Fluctuation Minimum of Neutral-Point Potential [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
When the selected harmonic elimination pulsewidth modulation (SHEPWM) is adopted to three-level neutral-point-clamped converters to reduce the switching frequency, the neutral-point potential (NPP) problem becomes more severe compared with other ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Nonequilibrium Period with Emergence of Marangoni Circulations in Meniscus Splitting

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces
Capillarity and Marangoni effect are important mechanisms driving interfacial pattern formation in dissipative structures of viscous fluids. “Meniscus splitting” pattern, a self‐assembly phenomenon in polysaccharide dispersions that occurs at the ...

. Linear and nonlinear response theory are developed for stationary Markov systems describing systems in equilibrium and nonequilibrium. Generalized fluctuation theorems are derived which relate the response function to a correlation of nonlinear ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Nanometer Scale Atomic Structure of Zirconium Based Bulk Metallic Glass

open access: yes, 2011
We have studied the nanometer scale structure of bulk metallic glass (BMG) using fluctuation electron microscopy (FEM). The nanometer scale medium range order (MRO) in BMG is of significant interest because of its possible relationship to the properties,

Effects of seasonal water-level fluctuation on soil pore structure in the Three Gorges Reservoir, China

open access: yes, 2018
Inundation of the Three Gorges Reservoir has created a 30-m water-level fluctuation zone with seasonal hydrological alternations of submergence and exposure, which may greatly affect soil properties and bank stability.

Fluctuation Microscopy in the STEM

open access: yesMicroscopy and Microanalysis, 2001
Abstract Fluctuation microscopy is an electron microscopy technique sensitive to medium-range order (MRO) in disordered materials. It has been applied to study amorphous germanium and silicon, leading to the conclusion that these materials exhibit more MRO than the conventional continuous random network model for their structure.
