A set of hydrodynamic-like equations describing the actual (fluctuating) variables for a dense system are derived from the Klimontovich equations. The equations have the same structure as the hydrodynamic equations but, in addition, have stochastic driving terms that have their origin in the pressure tensor and heat flux vector.

FLUCTUATIONS OF FLUCTUATIONS AND SPIKY SPIKES
Modern Physics Letters A, 1990It is shown that the factorial moments widely used as a measure of fluctuations strongly fluctuate themselves from event to event and their distribution is a very non-monotonous discrete function. If the fluctuations (spikes) are chosen as dense isolated homogeneous groups of particles on the pseudorapidity scale, the distribution of their centers ...

We examine the relationship between the strength of the intensity fluctuations and the polarimetric properties of a random electromagnetic field composed of a Gaussian, random field, and nonrandom field, and we present a method for determining the state of polarization of the Gaussian random field.

We argue that when individuals enunciate sounds which are perceived to be the same, the sounds have the commonalty that their spectra can be transformed into a new domain which results in identical spectra except for a speaker dependent translation factor. We call the transformation function the speech scale.

The fluctuation test is an assay for the detection of mutation induction in bacteria by chemicals, carried out in liquid medium, and scored by counting the number out of around 50 tubes or wells that turn yellow. It is suitable for the Ames Salmonella strains or for Escherichia coli WP2 trp and its derivatives.

Tardive Dyskinesia: Fluctuating Patient or Fluctuating Rater
British Journal of Psychiatry, 1984SummaryTardive dyskinesia (TD) is usually described as fluctuating in its clinical manifestations. We attempted to quantify fluctuations in TD using the Abnormal Involuntary Movement Scale (AIMS). Three psychiatrists rated multiple video-recorded examinations of four outpatients with mild TD.

Fluctuations in solidification
Physical Review E, 1993We present an analytical treatment of (i) the incorporation of thermal noise in the basic continuum models of solidification, (ii) fluctuations about nonequilibrium steady states, and (iii) the amplification of noise near the onset of morphological instability.
