Time-domain simulation of an organ flue pipe.

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1996
Due to the difficulty in treating jet behavior, a general agreement on the sound production of flue instruments has not yet been obtained. This paper discusses three jet deflection models proposed by several authors by means of the time-domain approach.

On some voicing adjustments of flue organ pipes

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1978
An adjustable organ pipe for research is described. The section is rectangular. Micrometer screws control (1) the width of the air jet opening, (2) the height of the edge, and (3) the in-out position of the air jet relative to the edge, all of which are practical voicing parameters.

Measurement of sound intensity near flue organ pipes

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2004
Organ voicers sometime experience that organ pipes, within an organ case, acoustically couple to one another. The coupling can be not only between a pipe and its mirror image in the case wall but also between adjacent pipes tuned to the same frequency.

Some voicing adjustments of flue organ pipes

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1979
The investigation uses a flue organ pipe designed so that mouth height Y, position of the upper lip in the air stream X, and width of the air passage are adjustable. Other dimensions can be altered with interchangeable parts. Rectangular and circular resonators of several lengths, open and stopped, are used.

Flue organ pipes: Adjustments affecting steady waveform

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1983
Adjustable flue organ pipes are used in studying the phase and amplitudes of harmonics relative to the fundamental for various horizontal positions of the upper lip, and the behavior of the spectrum as the mean jet velocity is changed in the range 5 to 39 m/s.

Influence of wall vibrations on the transient sound of flue organ pipes.

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2010
The question of how the vibrations of a metal flue organ pipe contribute to the perceived sound has been investigated intensively in the last decades. Numerical, experimental, and theoretical works have shown that the influence can modify fundamental frequency, amplitude, and stability of the sound.

Vortex shedding in steady oscillation of a flue organ pipe

Acta Acustica united with Acustica, 1996
A simplified model for the prediction of the amplitude of the oscillation in a flue organ pipe is developed. The model is based on a flow visualisation study of the interaction of the jet with the labium in a small flue organ pipe with a recorder-like geometry.

The effects of mouth adjustments on the acoustic spectra of flue organ pipes

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1979
The mouth height (cutup) of a flue organ pipe and the horizontal position of the upper lip relative to the axis of the jet have a great influence on both transient and steady-state waveforms. Effects of these variables will be shown with data taken on adjustable pipes, open and closed, operating at 40 to 60 mm (water) wind supply pressure.
