A finite element-analytical method for modeling a structure in an infinite fluid [PDF]

open access: yes, 1976
A method is described from which the interaction of an elastic structure with an infinite acoustic fluid is determined. The displacements of the structure and the pressure field of the immediate surrounding fluid are modeled by finite elements, and the ...

Floating structures in shallow water: local well-posedness in the axisymmetric case

open access: yes, 2019
The floating structure problem describes the interaction between surface water waves and a floating body, generally a boat or a wave energy converter. As shown by Lannes in [18] the equations for the fluid motion can be reduced to a set of two evolution ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Modeling and analysis of water-hammer in coaxial pipes

open access: yes, 2014
The fluid-structure interaction is studied for a system composed of two coaxial pipes in an annular geometry, for both homogeneous isotropic metal pipes and fiber-reinforced (anisotropic) pipes.

Characterizing the salivary RNA landscape to identify potential diagnostic, prognostic, and follow‐up biomarkers for breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study explores salivary RNA for breast cancer (BC) diagnosis, prognosis, and follow‐up. High‐throughput RNA sequencing identified distinct salivary RNA signatures, including novel transcripts, that differentiate BC from healthy controls, characterize histological and molecular subtypes, and indicate lymph node involvement.

Numerical analysis of the fluid-structure interaction in a membrane pump [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
In this research, the fluid-structure interaction in a recently developed membrane pump is analysed. The governing equations for the laminar flow and for the deformation of the membrane are solved with two separate codes, which are coupled with the quasi-

Adenosine‐to‐inosine editing of miR‐200b‐3p is associated with the progression of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A‐to‐I editing of miRNAs, particularly miR‐200b‐3p, contributes to HGSOC progression by enhancing cancer cell proliferation, migration and 3D growth. The edited form is linked to poorer patient survival and the identification of novel molecular targets.

Micropolar fluid-thin elastic structure interaction: variational analysis

open access: yesMathematical Modelling and Analysis
We consider the non-stationary flow of a micropolar fluid in a thin channel with an impervious wall and an elastic stiff wall, motivated by applications to blood flows through arteries.

Synthetic vascular ultrasound imaging through coupled fluid-structure interaction and ultrasound simulations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Although ultrasonic imaging is commonly applied in cardiovascular research and clinical practice, current blood flow and vessel wall imaging methods are still hampered by several limitations.
