Infrared laser sampling of low volumes combined with shotgun lipidomics reveals lipid markers in palatine tonsil carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Nanosecond infrared laser (NIRL) low‐volume sampling combined with shotgun lipidomics uncovers distinct lipidome alterations in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) of the palatine tonsil. Several lipid species consistently differentiate tumor from healthy tissue, highlighting their potential as diagnostic markers.

Experimental Setup for Dynamic Analysis of Micro- and Nano-Mechanical Systems in Vacuum, Gas, and Liquid

open access: yesMicromachines, 2019
An experimental setup to perform dynamic analysis of a micro- and nano-mechanical system in vacuum, gas, and liquid is presented. The setup mainly consists of a piezoelectric excitation part and the chamber that can be either evacuated for vacuum, or ...

R fluids

open access: yesSerbian Astronomical Journal, 2008
A theory of collisionless fluids is developed in a unified picture, where nonrotating (?f1 = ?f2 = ?f3 = 0) figures with some given random velocity component distributions, and rotating (?f1 = ?f2 = ?f3 ) figures with a different random velocity component distributions, make adjoint configurations to the same system. R fluids are defined as ideal, self-

Constraint Fluids

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Visualization and Computer Graphics, 2012
We present a fluid simulation method based on Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH) in which incompressibility and boundary conditions are enforced using holonomic kinematic constraints on the density. This formulation enables systematic multiphysics integration in which interactions are modeled via similar constraints between the fluid pseudoparticles

Recurrent cancer‐associated ERBB4 mutations are transforming and confer resistance to targeted therapies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We show that the majority of the 18 analyzed recurrent cancer‐associated ERBB4 mutations are transforming. The most potent mutations are activating, co‐operate with other ERBB receptors, and are sensitive to pan‐ERBB inhibitors. Activating ERBB4 mutations also promote therapy resistance in EGFR‐mutant lung cancer.

Fluid teams

open access: yesMilitary Psychology
Fluid teams are teams whose members are drawn from various technical domains or organizational divisions and assembled to undertake a critical, time-limited task. Members of these teams are rapidly assembled, have no prior familiarity or experience working together, must begin work immediately to accomplish the task, and then cease to exist following ...

Laser Doppler instrument measures fluid velocity without reference beam [PDF]

open access: yes, 1971
Fluid velocity is measured by focusing laser beam on moving fluid and measuring Doppler shift in frequency which results when radiation is scattered by particles either originally present or deliberately injected into moving ...

Thermodynamic stability of fluid-fluid phase separation in binary athermal mixtures: The role of nonadditivity

open access: yes, 2006
We study the thermodynamic stability of fluid-fluid phase separation in binary nonadditive mixtures of hard-spheres for moderate size ratios. We are interested in elucidating the role played by small amounts of nonadditivity in determining the stability ...

Peroxidasin enables melanoma immune escape by inhibiting natural killer cell cytotoxicity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Peroxidasin (PXDN) is secreted by melanoma cells and binds the NK cell receptor NKG2D, thereby suppressing NK cell activation and cytotoxicity. PXDN depletion restores NKG2D signaling and enables effective NK cell–mediated melanoma killing. These findings identify PXDN as a previously unrecognized immune evasion factor and a potential target to improve
