Thermodynamics predicts how confinement modifies hard-sphere dynamics

open access: yes, 2005
We study how confining the equilibrium hard-sphere fluid to restrictive one- and two-dimensional channels with smooth interacting walls modifies its structure, dynamics, and entropy using molecular dynamics and transition-matrix Monte Carlo simulations ...

CCDC80 suppresses high‐grade serous ovarian cancer migration via negative regulation of B7‐H3

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PAX8 is a lineage‐specific master regulator of transcription in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSC) progression. We show for the first time that PAX8 facilitates proliferation and metastasis by repressing the cell autonomous tumor suppressor CCDC80 and inducing B7‐H3 expression.

Using the Lubrication Approximation to Model the Effects of Viscosity in DEM Simulations for Complex Flow Regimes

open access: yesKONA Powder and Particle Journal
This study explores an efficient approach to modelling the flow of particles in wet granular systems using the Discrete Element Method (DEM). Typically, when particles move in a viscous fluid, DEM is coupled with Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) or ...

Peristaltic flow of Eyring-Powell nanofluid under the action of an electromagnetic field

open access: yesEngineering Science and Technology, an International Journal, 2019
Electro-kinetic peristaltic flow of Eyring-Powell nanofluid has been investigated in this paper. The flow is considered to take place in an asymmetric wavy micro-channel.

Magnetohydrodynamic approximation of the complete equations for an electromagnetic fluid

open access: yesTsukuba Journal of Mathematics, 1986
The authors give a singular limit theorem for the magnetohydrodynamic equations in two space dimensions, which are obtained as the limit of the complete equations for the electromagnetic fluid at the vanishing of the dielectric constant. They show convergence of the solutions of the complete equations to the solutions of the magnetohydrodynamic ...

Clinical performance of the urine‐based TERT promoter AbsoluteQ Digital PCR for non‐invasive detection of bladder cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A urine‐based digital PCR assay targeting two hotspot TERT promoter variants detected bladder cancer with high sensitivity and no false positives in this case–control cohort. The streamlined AbsoluteQ workflow outperformed Sanger sequencing and supports non‐invasive molecular testing for bladder cancer detection.

Hm Convergence of the Second-Grade Fluid Equations to Euler Equations in ℝd

open access: yesDiscrete Dynamics in Nature and Society, 2020
In this paper, we investigate an approximation of the Euler equation by the second-grade fluid equations in ℝdd=2,3. The convergence in Hm of a sequence of solutions to the second-grade fluid equations in a uniform interval is proven as both the ...

Exact calculation of Fourier series in nonconforming spectral-element methods

open access: yes, 2005
In this note is presented a method, given nodal values on multidimensional nonconforming spectral elements, for calculating global Fourier-series coefficients.

The liquid-vapor interface of an ionic fluid

open access: yes, 1997
We investigate the liquid-vapor interface of the restricted primitive model (RPM) for an ionic fluid using a density-functional approximation based on correlation functions of the homogeneous fluid as obtained from the mean-spherical approximation (MSA).
