UV-fs-LA-ICP-MS Analysis of CO2-Rich Fluid Inclusions in a Frozen State: Example from the Dahu Au-Mo Deposit, Xiaoqinling Region, Central China

open access: yesGeofluids, 2018
The recently developed technique of ultraviolet femtosecond laser ablation inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (UV-fs-LA-ICP-MS) combined with a freezing cell is expected to improve the analysis of CO2-rich fluid inclusions by decreasing their ...

Fluid Inclusions and H-O-C-S Isotopes of the Wushan Copper Polymetallic Deposit in the Suizao Area, Hubei Province: Implications for Ore Genesis

open access: yesGeofluids, 2019
The Wushan copper polymetallic deposit is located in the Tongbai-Dabie orogenic belt in central China. Two small granitoid stocks (Donggushan and Xigushan) occur in the deposit, which is next to the largest Qijianfeng Granite Complex in the Suizao area ...

Combining transient dynamics and logistic‐asymptotic growth to study the recovery of two seabird populations after rat eradication

open access: yesPopulation Ecology, EarlyView.
This study examines the demographic dynamics of two seabird populations on Tromelin Island, 15 years after the eradication of brown rats. The results indicate that these populations are in good health and are expected to continue growing until breeding sites are saturated in about a century.

Physicochemical Evolution of Hydrothermal Fluids in the Kuh-e-Esfand porphyry Copper System, South of Jiroft, Kerman Province

open access: yesJournal of Economic Geology
The Kuh-e-Esfand copper deposit is located in the southernmost part of the Urmia-Dokhtar magmatic belt. The Oligocene-Miocene intrusive bodies, ranging from diorite to quartz diorite and granodiorite, are emplaced within the Eocene volcanic complex ...

The Influence of Hydrothermal Activity on the Long-Distance Migration and Accumulation of Hydrocarbons: A Case Study from the Y8 Area in the Songnan-Baodao Sag of Qiongdongnan Basin

open access: yesEnergies, 2022
The Qiongdongnan (QDN) basin in the northwestern South China Sea has been shown to be rich in petroleum resources and has significant exploration potential for deepwater oil and gas resources.

Threshold size for fluid inclusion decrepitation [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth, 2015
AbstractFluid inclusions in igneous and metamorphic rocks are equilibrated at pressures reaching a few tens of kilobars at mantle depths. These microsystems experience decompression as a consequence of uplift processes, such as subaerial volcanic eruptions. On decompression, inclusion fluid overpressure is known to bring about the mechanical failure of

The unpredictably eruptive dynamics of spruce budworm populations in eastern Canada

open access: yesPopulation Ecology, EarlyView.
We examine historical population data for spruce budworm from several locations through the period 1930–1997, and use density‐dependent recruitment curves to test whether the pattern of population growth over time is more consistent with Royama's (1984; Ecological Monographs 54:429–462) linear R(t) model of harmonic oscillation at Green River New ...

Microthermometry and Raman spectroscopy of fluid inclusions from El Vapor gold mineralizations, Colombia

open access: yesEarth Sciences Research Journal, 2018
Epigenetic El Vapor gold mineralization is hosted by the Segovia batholith and sedimentary rocks at both sides of El Nús fault, in the eastern flank of the Colombian Andes central cordillera.

Trace elements in fluid inclusions of sediment-hosted gold deposits indicate a magmatic-hydrothermal origin of the Carlin ore trend

open access: yes, 2016
The Carlin-type deposits in Nevada (western USA) constitute the world9s second-largest gold ore province. These structurally and stratigraphically controlled, sediment-hosted ore bodies are characterized by carbonate dissolution attending hydrothermal ...

Network topology drives population temporal variability in experimental habitat networks

open access: yesPopulation Ecology, EarlyView.
Habitat patches connected by dispersal pathways form habitat networks. We explored how network topology affects population outcomes in laboratory experiments using a model species (Daphnia carinata). Central habitat nodes in complex lattice networks exhibited lower temporal variability in population sizes, suggesting they support more stable ...
