Angiotensinogen Antisense Oligonucleotides and Fluid Intake

open access: yesClinical and Experimental Hypertension, 1997
The effectiveness of antisense oligonucleotides (ODNs) to angiotensinogen on intracerebrovenricularly injected renin induced thirst was investigated. As a corollary, information would be gained about the role of centrally synthesised angiotensinogen in the neural mechanisms subserving water drinking in rats.

Quantitative proteomic analysis reveals different characteristics of bladder cancer cells after exposure to bisphenol A

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Bisphenol A (BPA), a common chemical in plastics, exerts dual effects on bladder cancer cells: low doses promote growth and migration, while high doses suppress growth and migration. Multi‐omics and bioinformatics reveal BPA acts via MAPK and inflammatory pathways.

Water and fluid intake in the prevention and treatment of functional constipation in children and adolescents: is there evidence?

open access: yesJornal de Pediatria (Versão em Português), 2017

Fluid intake and changes in limb volumes in male ultra-marathoners: does fluid overload lead to peripheral oedema? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
An increase in body mass due to oedema has been previously described. The aim of this study was to investigate a potential association between both fluid and electrolyte intake and the formation of peripheral oedemas.

Influencia de la calidad del heno suplementario y la localización de la pastura sobre el rendimiento de bovinos de carne a pastoreo sobre avena [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Heifers grazing oat pasture (OP) at two locations in Argentina, Argerich (ARG) and Pasman (PAS), were subjected to one of three different dietary supplement treatments: (1) control (CON, no supplement), (2) sorghum hay (SH), or (3) alfalfa-grass hay (AGH)

Proteasomal degradation of intracellularly expressed Amblyomin‐X limits suicide gene therapy potential in melanoma cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This study explores the feasibility of expressing the antitumoral protein Amblyomin‐X through a suicide gene therapy approach and investigates its intracellular fate after gene delivery. Although the gene is efficiently expressed, melanoma cells rapidly degrade the Amblyomin‐X protein via proteasome activity.

Case study of a female ocean racer: prerace preparation and nutritional intake during the Vendee Globe 2008. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The Vendée Globe is a solo round-the-world sailing race without stopovers or assistance, a physically demanding challenge for which appropriate nutrition should maintain energy balance and ensure optimum performance.

Association between fluid intake and mortality in critically ill patients with negative fluid balance: a retrospective cohort study

open access: yesCritical Care, 2017
BackgroundCompared to positive fluid balance (FB), negative FB is associated with improved clinical outcomes in critically ill patients. However, as to whether achieving more negative FB can further improve outcomes has not been investigated.

Rapid screening of staphylokinase protein variants using an unpurified cell‐free expression system

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
An unpurified cell‐free protein synthesis (CFPS) platform enables rapid functional screening of staphylokinase variants. Direct plasminogen‐activation assays performed in microplate format provide real‐time activity readouts, allowing rapid identification and ranking of variants with improved or reduced fibrinolytic activity without protein ...
