Numerical simulations of complex fluid-fluid interface dynamics
Interfaces between two fluids are ubiquitous and of special importance for industrial applications, e.g., stabilisation of emulsions. The dynamics of fluid-fluid interfaces is difficult to study because these interfaces are usually deformable and their ...

This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.

The characteristics of shock wave loads from air blast near the water surface
Blasts near the water surface are one of the major threats to ships. Experiments were carried out to study the load characteristics of the shock wave on the water surface with TNT/RDX(40/60) explosives.

Quantum Algorithms for Fluid Simulations [PDF]
This chapter describes results of a recent investigation aiming to assess the potential of quantum computing and suitably designed algorithms for future computational fluid dynamics applications. For quantum computers becoming available in the near future, it can be expected that applications of quantum computing follow the quantum coprocessor model ...

The dFoCC pipeline starts with observed DED and resting‐state coordinates, which are then used to generate a library of triggered states. Correlation analysis of the calculated DED features of each candidate vs observed DED permits quantitative evaluation of candidate structural quality.

Molecular characterization of covRS mutations in M1UK Streptococcus pyogenes
Group A Streptococcus (GAS) acquires covRS mutations driving a hypervirulent bacterial state, frequently associated with invasive disease‐like necrotizing fasciitis. We demonstrate that the newly emerged M1UK GAS lineage can also acquire these mutations.

Adaptive step-size forward advection method for aerosol process simulation
Outdoor aerosol processes are often associated with disasters and diseases, which threaten human life and health. Outdoor aerosols are a fluid system affected by meteorological conditions and three-dimensional complex terrain.

Value of MRI Outcomes for Preventive and Early‐Stage Trials in Spinocerebellar Ataxias 1 and 3
ABSTRACT Objective To examine the value of MRI outcomes as endpoints for preventive and early‐stage trials of two polyglutamine spinocerebellar ataxias (SCAs). Methods A cohort of 100 participants (23 SCA1, 63 SCA3, median Scale for the Assessment and Rating of Ataxia (SARA) score = 5, 42% preataxic, and 14 gene‐negative controls) was scanned at 3T up ...

Survey on Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics and the Particle Systems
Particle techniques mainly deal with physically-based particle variations for phenomena and shapes in computer animation and geometric modeling. Typical particle techniques include smoothed particle hydrodynamics (SPH) simulation for animation and ...
