An unexpected alternative viologen electron mediator site in tungsten‐containing formate dehydrogenase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
An unexpected alternative interaction site for ethyl viologen was identified in formate dehydrogenase 1 from Methylorubrum extorquens. Combined mutagenesis, kinetic analysis, and docking revealed that aromatic residues near an iron–sulfur cluster enable flavin mononucleotide‐independent electron transfer, offering a framework for engineering improved ...

Homotopy simulation of oscillatory powell–eyring nanofluid under rotating MHD Forces with Hall–ion slip and thermophoretic deposition

open access: yesInternational Journal of Thermofluids
This paper presents an analytical investigation of the unsteady magneto hydrodynamic (MHD) flow of a Powell–Eyring nanofluid over an oscillating vertical plate in a rotating frame.

Fluid Structure Interaction (FSI) Simulation of the human eye under the air puff tonometry using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The air puss test is a non-contact method used in different areas to investigate the material behaviour or the biomechanical properties of biological tissues such as skin, cornea, and soft tissue tumours and also to study fruit rmness or meat tenderness.

Keratin 19 as a prognostic marker and contributing factor of metastasis and chemoresistance in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.

Microscopic Computer Simulation of Fluids [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
When studying fluids it is frequently the case that the construction of a reasonable approximate theory becomes an elusive endeavor. The more difficult and interesting these problems are the better it is to have exact results, coming directly from the microscopic kinetics, both to test the existing theoretical approaches and to gain insights into new ...

Deep Fluids: A Generative Network for Parameterized Fluid Simulations [PDF]

open access: yesComputer Graphics Forum, 2019
AbstractThis paper presents a novel generative model to synthesize fluid simulations from a set of reduced parameters. A convolutional neural network is trained on a collection of discrete, parameterizable fluid simulation velocity fields. Due to the capability of deep learning architectures to learn representative features of the data, our generative ...

Interpreting the effects of DNA polymerase variants at the structural level

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Using MAVISp and molecular dynamics simulations, we analyzed over 60 000 missense variants in POLE and POLD1 from ClinVar, COSMIC, cBioPortal, and saturation mutagenesis. Identified mechanistic indicators, including stability, binding, and long‐range, enable structural interpretation, providing ACMG‐like evidence for possible reclassification of VUS ...

Developmental programmes drive cellular plasticity, disease progression and therapy resistance in lung adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study shows that lung adenocarcinomas exploit developmental branching morphogenesis to acquire a therapy resistant basal‐like tumour cell state. This process was found to be regulated by combined TP53 loss‐of‐function and type‐I interferon signalling, identifying a novel axis for biomarker and therapeutic target discovery.

Estimation of 3D Permeability from Pore Network Models Constructed Using 2D Thin-Section Images in Sandstone Reservoirs

open access: yesEnergies, 2023
Using thin-section images to estimate core permeability is an economical and less time-consuming method for reservoir evaluation, which is a goal that many petroleum developers aspire to achieve.

Numerical simulation of single droplet dynamics in three-phase flows using ISPH [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
In this study, a new surface tension formulation for modeling incompressible, immiscible three-phase fluid flows in the context of incompressible smoothed particle hydrodynamics (ISPH) in two dimensions has been proposed.
