Interpreting the effects of DNA polymerase variants at the structural level

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Using MAVISp and molecular dynamics simulations, we analyzed over 60 000 missense variants in POLE and POLD1 from ClinVar, COSMIC, cBioPortal, and saturation mutagenesis. Identified mechanistic indicators, including stability, binding, and long‐range, enable structural interpretation, providing ACMG‐like evidence for possible reclassification of VUS ...

Shock induced fluid structure interaction on a flexible wall in supersonic turbulent flow [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
A detailed knowledge of the flow structure interaction in supersonic flows is important for the design of future space transportation systems. Therefore this work was devoted to the investigation of the shock wave boundary layer interaction on an ...

Fluid-structure interaction in internal physiological flows [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
We provide a selective review of recent progress in the analysis of several physiological and physiologically inspired fluid-structure interaction problems, our aim being to explain the underlying physical mechanisms that cause the observed behaviors ...

Loss of IGF‐1R impairs DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin leading to defective end‐joining

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
IGF‐1R promotes radioresistance by facilitating DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin, enabling non‐homologous end‐joining (NHEJ) repair of double‐strand breaks. Inhibition or loss of IGF‐1R disrupts this recruitment to damage sites, driving compensatory reliance on microhomology‐mediated end‐joining (MMEJ) repair.

Vortex methods for fluid-structure interaction problems with deforming geometries and their application to swimming [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
We present a vortex particle-mesh method for fluid-structure interaction problems. The proposed methodology combines implicit interface capturing, Brinkmann penalization techniques, and the self-consistent computation of momentum transfer between the ...

Fluid-structure interaction for vascular flows: From supercomputers to laptops [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Several models exist for the simulation of vascular flows; they span from simple circuit models to full three-dimensional ones that take into account detailed features of the blood and of the arterialwall. Eachmodel comeswith both benefits and drawbacks,

Oncogenic DMTF1β promotes cancer cell motility by regulating autophagy through ULK1 stabilization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In the current study, we demonstrate that the oncogene DMTF1β regulates ULK1 stability by reducing its proteasomal degradation in cancer cells. This stabilization enables ULK1 to induce autophagy, which in turn facilitates cancer cell migration. Consequently, reduced DMTF1β levels lead to decreased autophagy and impaired cancer cell migration.

Numerical Modeling of Large-Displacement Fluid-Structure Interaction: Preliminary Study Aimed at Analysis of Heart Valve Dynamics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The demand for artificial heart valve replacements is increasing as a result of birth defects, ageing and disease. Collaboration between engineers, biologists and mathematicians is necessary to handle problems related to biocompatibility and fluid ...

Fluid-Structure Interaction Analysis of Parachute Finite Mass Inflation

open access: yesInternational Journal of Aerospace Engineering, 2016
Parachute inflation is coupled with sophisticated fluid-structure interaction (FSI) and flight mechanic behaviors in a finite mass situation. During opening, the canopy often experiences the largest deformation and loading.
