YIPFα1A expression is regulated by multilayered molecular mechanisms

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
YIPFα1A, a five‐pass Golgi protein, is regulated at multiple layers. (1) Rare‐codon enrichment drives translation‐coupled mRNA decay. (2) A proximal 3′‐UTR element stabilizes mRNA. (3) A distal 3′‐UTR element included by alternate poly(A) site usage represses translation, which can be overridden by the proximal 3′‐UTR element.

Waveform inversion of the S reflector west of Spain: fine structure of a detachment fault. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
The S reflection west of Iberia has been interpreted as a low-angle detachment fault separating crustal fault blocks from partially serpentinized mantle. We apply full waveform inversion to investigate the fine structure of S.

Optimizing photoactivation of PA‐mCherry for optical pooled CRISPR screens

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Photoactivatable PA‐mCherry finds widespread use to optically tag individual cells. However, confocal 405 nm UV laser‐scanning (normal scan) is much less efficient than widefield UV illumination, limiting the use of PA‐mCherry on confocal instruments. We remedy this limitation by reporting that rapid and repeated confocal scanning with a low‐intensity,

Newtonian and Non-Newtonian Pulsatile Flows through an Artery with Stenosis

open access: yesThe Journal of Engineering Research, 2017
The current study presents three-dimensional modeling and analysis of blood flow through artery stenosis under several variants of pulsatile flow to mimic the atherosclerosis artery disease.

A new flow chip in combination with multiphoton microscopy as a protocol for longitudinal 3D imaging of tissue calcification under shear stress

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Miniaturized flow chip platform enabling continuous perfusion and longitudinal multiphoton 3D imaging of vascular smooth muscle cell constructs under physiological flow. Brightfield imaging guides region selection, while CellTracker Green and mRuby‐labeled fetuin‐A visualize cells and mineral deposition, respectively. Magnesium supplementation markedly

Statistical fluid dynamics equation and its reduction to the Navier–Stokes equations in macroscopic form

open access: yesAIP Advances
In this work, the statistical fluid dynamics equation for the molecule number density function is derived by using the Taylor-series expansion as an alternative theoretical modeling of the collision integral in the Boltzmann equation.

Hall Effects on Isothermal Vertical Plate with Uniform Mass Diffusion in the Presence of Rotating Fluid and Chemical Reaction of First Order

open access: yesInternational Journal of Applied Mechanics and Engineering, 2017
An exact solution of the combined study of Hall effects on a vertical plate with a rotating fluid in the presence of a homogeneous chemical reaction of first order has been analysed.

Particle-fluid dynamics and solid ejection in fluidized beds [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Los flujos multifásicos son, en general, difíciles de modelar. En concreto, los lechos fluidizados burbujeantes son incluso más complejos debido a la presencia de burbujas (aparte de las partículas y de la corriente principal del gas) que aparecen cuando

Dose‐dependent hepatotoxicity of hydrogen peroxide in HepG2 cells and its modulation by CYP450 induction

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
NMR metabolomics revealed concentration‐dependent metabolic perturbations in HepG2 cells exposed to H2O2. Rifampicin pretreatment enhanced metabolic competence, attenuated toxin‐induced alterations and produced metabolite profiles more consistent with human liver physiology, supporting the use of CYP450‐induced HepG2 models for improved in vitro ...

Investigation of spiral blood flow in a model of arterial stenosis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
The spiral component of blood flow has both beneficial and detrimental effects in human circulatory system [Stonebridge PA, Brophy CM. Spiral laminar flow in arteries? Lancet 1991; 338: 1360–1].
