Fluidization And Fluidized Beds
2019One of the most unusual types of equipment used by chemical engineers is the fluidized bed, a device in which solid particles, for example sand or catalyst particles, are made to behave like elements of a fluid, and hence are “fluidized”. The state of being fluidized, called “fluidization”, turns out to be advantageous for a number of important ...

Fluidization Phenomena and Fluidized Bed Technology
1997The term fluidization is used to designate the gas-solid contacting process in which a bed of finely divided solid particles is lifted and agitated by a rising stream of process gas. At the lower end of the velocity range, the amount of lifting is slight, the bed behaving like a boiling liquid (hence the term boiling bed).

Powder Technology, 1993
Abstract Entrainment of silicon fines mixed with large silicon nitride particles and mixed with large silicon particles wasmeasured. A model is proposed to account for attrition and elutriation based on the assumption that the fine powder is in one of three forms: (a) elutriable freely moving fines, (b) agglomerates of fines, (c) fines attached to ...

Incipient fluidization condition for a centrifugal fluidized bed
AIChE Journal, 1985AbstractA model has been proposed for the condition of incipient fluidization in a centrifugal fluidized bed. The model is based on the balance between the overall forces, including the centrifugal and fluid frictional forces, exerted on the fluidized particles and the overall effective weight of the particles.

Fluidizing ultrafine powders with circulating fluidized bed
Chemical Engineering Science, 1999The hydrodynamic behavior of a number of ultrafine powders in a circulating fluidized bed was investigated. Different ultrafine powders displayed different fluidization behaviors in the dipleg and the powder return system, but their hydrodynamic behaviors in the riser were almost the same.
