A low concentration of Tacrolimus/semifluorinated alkane (SFA) eyedrop suppresses intraocular inflammation in experimental models of uveitis [PDF]
PURPOSE: Corticosteroids remain the mainstay therapy for uveitis, a major cause of blindness in the working age population. However, a substantial number of patients cannot benefit from the therapy due to steroids resistance or intolerance.

Prognostic biomarkers of chronic diabetic macular edema treated with a fluocinolone acetonide intravitreal implant [PDF]
Background: This study aimed to investigate retinal imaging biomarkers, such as disorganization of the retinal inner layers (DRIL) and/or ellipsoid zone (EZ) disruption by spectral domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT), and functional outcomes in ...

Intravitreal Fluocinolone Acetonide for Diabetic Macular Edema: Long-Term Effect and Structure/Function Correlation [PDF]
The long-term effect of intravitreal Fluocinolone acetonide (FAc) on retinal morphology and function in diabetic macular edema (DME) was investigated. Seventeen eyes of twelve consecutive DME patients, treated by intravitreal FAc, were retrospectively ...

Efficacy of Low-Release-Rate Fluocinolone Acetonide Intravitreal Implants to Treat Experimental Uveitis [PDF]
To determine the efficacy of 0.5-mg and 0.1-mg sustained-release fluocinolone acetonide intravitreal implants to inhibit ocular inflammation in a rabbit model of severe uveitis. The in vitro pharmacokinetic profile of both the 0.5-mg and 0.1-mg sustained-release fluocinolone intravitreal implants was determined during a 10-day period.
