FLUORANTHENE STUDIES

Canadian Journal of Chemistry, 1964
3-Acetamido- and 3-amino-nuoranthene are brominated in the 2-position. Two new fluoranthene compounds are reported: 2-bromo-3-acetamidofluoranthene and 2-bromofluoranthene. The theoretical implications of these results are discussed.

Tumour initiating activity of dihydrodiols of benzo[b]fluoranthene, benzo[j]fluoranthene, and benzo[k]fluoranthene

Carcinogenesis, 1982
The tumor initiating activities on mouse skin of benzo[b]fluoranthene, (B[b]F), benzo[j]fluoranthene (B[j]F), benzo[k]fluoranthene (B[k]F] and three of their dihydrodiols, 9,10-dihydro-9,10-dihydroxybenzo[b]fluoranthene (B[b]F-9,10-diol), 9,10-dihydro-9,10-dihydroxybenzo[j]fluoranthene (B[j]F-9,10-diol), and 8,9-dihydro-8,9-dihydroxybenzo[k ...

Relative tumor initiating activity of benzo[a]fluoranthene, benzo[b]fluoranthene, naphtho[1,2-b]fluoranthene and naphtho[2,1-a]fluoranthene on mouse skin

Cancer Letters, 1990
The tumor-initiating activities of benzo[a]fluoranthene (BaF), benzo[b]fluoranthene (BbF), naphtho[1,2-b]fluoranthene (NbF) and naphtho[2,1-a]fluoranthene (NaF) were evaluated on the skin of female CD-1 mice. Each of these polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons was assayed at total initiation doses of 1.0 and 4.0 mumol/mouse.

Fluoranthenes by cyclodehydrogenation. Benzo[a]naphtho[j]1,2-fluoranthene

Journal of the Chemical Society C: Organic, 1966
The palladium–sulphur method has been used to dehydrogenate 3,4,5,6,7,8-hexahydro-1-(1,2,5,6,7,8-hexahydro-4-phenanthryl)anthracene to the title compound. Two intermediates, tetrahydrobenzo[a]-5,6,7,8-tetrahydronaphtho[1,2-j]fluoranthene and tetrahydrobenzo[a]naphtho[1,2-j]fluoranthene, were isolated and their structures established.

ChemInform Abstract: 3‐FORMYL‐FLUORANTHEN UND 3,9‐DIACETYL‐FLUORANTHEN

Chemischer Informationsdienst. Organische Chemie, 1970

High-resolution proton magnetic resonance spectra of fluoranthene, benzo [k] fluoranthene, and benzo [ghi] fluoranthene

Journal of Molecular Spectroscopy, 1967
Abstract Analysis of the 60 Mc/sec proton magnetic resonance spectra of fluoranthene (I), benzo [ k ] fluoranthene (II), and benzo [ ghi ] fluoranthene (III) have been carried out and, for I and II, confirmed at 100 Mc/sec. Differential solvent shifts for the protons helped in the analysis of I and were also observed in III; their presence may imply ...

Bacterial Fluoranthene Degradation

1999
During the last fifteen years it became evident that Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs) encompassing more than three rings despite their low water solubility may serve as growth substrates for several kinds of soil bacteria.

Triplet fluoranthenes: Aromaticity versus unpaired electrons

Journal of Molecular Modeling, 2010
Three fluoranthenes and one substituted fluoranthene, 2,2-dimethyl-2H-dibenzo[cd,k]fluoranthene, were investigated using the unrestricted symmetry-broken and complete active space methods. It was shown that four Kekuléan hydrocarbons are diradicals, implying that their ground state is a triplet.
