Biodegradation of fluoranthene by soil fungi

Chemosphere, 1999
A selection of 39 strains of micromycetes known as good degraders of polychlorinated aromatic compounds, mostly isolated from soil and belonging to various taxonomic groups, have been investigated for fluoranthene degradation. Toxicity assays, first evaluated on solid medium MEA, have not shown any toxicity of fluoranthene (1-100 mg.L-1) towards fungi.

Removal of fluoranthene and pyrene by different microalgal species

open access: yesBioresource Technology, 2007
In this work, the efficiency of four microalgal species, namely, Chlorella vulgaris, Scenedesmus platydiscus, Scenedesmus quadricauda, and Selenastrum capricornutum to remove fluoranthene (1.0 mg l-1), pyrene (1.0 mg l-1), and a mixture of fluoranthene ...

In vitro degradation of fluoranthene by bacteria isolated from petroleum sludge

open access: yesBioresource Technology, 2011
An investigation was carried out for in vitro degradation of fluoranthene by four bacterial strains (PSM6, PSM7, PSM10 and PSM11) isolated from the petroleum sludge. Although all the strains registered their growth in MSM with 100 ppm fluoranthene, PSM11

Anaerobic biodegradation of fluoranthene under methanogenic conditions in presence of surface-active compounds

open access: yesJournal of Hazardous Materials, 2008
Bacillus cereus isolated from municipal wastewater treatment plant was used as a model strain to assess the efficiency of two anionic surfactants, a chemical surfactant and a biosurfactant during fluoranthene biodegradation under anaerobic methanogenic ...
