Fluorescein Derivatives as Fluorescent Probes for pH Monitoring along Recent Biological Applications

open access: yesInternational Journal of Molecular Sciences, 2020
Potential of hydrogen (pH) is one of the most relevant parameters characterizing aqueous solutions. In biology, pH is intrinsically linked to cellular life since all metabolic pathways are implicated into ionic flows.

Unraveling the Mechanism for Tuning the Fluorescence of Fluorescein Derivatives: The Role of the Conical Intersection and nπ* State.

Journal of Physical Chemistry Letters, 2021
Although a large number of fluorescein derivatives have been developed and applied in many different fields, the general mechanisms for tuning the fluorescence of fluorescein derivatives still remain uncovered.

Study of fluorescein glucuronide [PDF]

open access: possibleGraefe's Archive for Clinical and Experimental Ophthalmology, 1986
Comparative studies of fluorescein and fluorescein glucuronide were carried out. Binding to human serum protein was studied using an Amicon MPS-3 ultrafiltration unit; it averaged 63% for fluorescein glucuronide and 85% for fluorescein. Intracameral penetration of both compounds was studied in the human eye, and the concentration changes of both ...

Fluorescein and fluorescein glucuronide in plasma

Acta Ophthalmologica, 1992
AbstractThe evaluation of the blood‐ocular barrier for fluorescein requires the measurement of free and unconjugated fluorescein in plasma. This study introduces a new and simple method for the determination of free fluorescein in plasma on the basis of determined total free plasma fluorescense and the free fraction of fluorescence.

Fluorescein and fluorescein glucuronide in plasma after intravenous injection of fluorescein

Acta Ophthalmologica, 1988
Abstract. After intravenous injection of fluorescein the time‐course of the plasma concentrations of fluorescein (F) and fluorescein glucuronide (FG) was studied in 18 insulin‐dependent diabetics with various degrees of nephropathy, and in two non‐diabetic subjects.

Comparison of 5-aminolevulinic acid and sodium fluorescein for intraoperative tumor visualization in patients with high-grade gliomas: a single-center retrospective study.

Journal of Neurosurgery, 2020
OBJECTIVE Maximal safe resection is an important surgical goal in the treatment for high-grade gliomas. Fluorescent dyes help the surgeon to distinguish malignant tissue from healthy.

Labeling of Oligonucleotides with Fluorescein

Molecular Biotechnology, 1997
The labeling of oligonucleotide probes using a fluorescein-labeled nucleotide is described. The reaction is characterized by careful control of the nucleotide and probe molar ratio in order to produce a tail that gives good detection sensitivity without compromising hybridization stringency control of the probe sequence.
