Fluorescence from metallic silver and iron nanoparticles prepared by exploding wire technique [PDF]
The observation of intense visible fluorescence from silver and iron nanoparticles in different solution phases and surface capping is reported here. Metallic silver and iron nanoparticles were obtained by exploding pure silver and iron wires in pure water.

Resolution and enhancement in nanoantenna-based fluorescence microscopy
Single gold nanoparticles can act as nanoantennas for enhancing the fluorescence of emitters in their near-fields. Here we present experimental and theoretical studies of scanning antenna-based fluorescence microscopy as a function of the diameter of the

Glutaredoxin (Grx) 3 proteins contain a thioredoxin domain and one to three class II Grx domains. These proteins play a crucial role in iron homeostasis in eukaryotic cells. In human Grx3, at least one of the two Grx domains, together with the thioredoxin domain, is essential for its function in iron metabolism.

Influence of DNA on Ag(I)-C-Phycocyanin complexes [PDF]
The effects of DNA on the fluorescence of silver phycocyanin complexes were investigated. It was shown, that the fluorescence intensity of phycocyanin decreases, when silver ions are added but the following DNA addition gives rise to fluorescence buildup. Fluorescence spectroscopy provides insight of silver phycocyanin interactions.

Solvatochromism of (-)-Epigallocatechin 3-O-Gallate (EGCG) Fluorescence: Dependence on Solvent Protonicity [PDF]
Health benefits of EGCG are well established; however, the mechanisms of EGCG action are not completely understood. In our previous study we discovered solvatochromism of EGCG fluorescence and described the dependence of fluorescence maxima on solvent polarity. We also noted that fluorescence intensity (FI) depends on solvent.

To explore the impact of the overexpression of the multidrug‐transporter P‐glycoprotein (ABCB1) on membrane fluidity, we compared the transversal gradient of mobility and microviscosity in plasma membranes of drug‐sensitive Chinese hamster ovary cells (AuxB1) and their multidrug‐resistant derivatives (B30) using the fluorescent n‐(9‐anthroyloxy) fatty ...

We report on the recent advancements in the sensing of proteins, both directly and with the use of a fluorescent probe, through the use of Fluorophore-Induced Plasmonic Current (FIPC). FIPC are a phenomenon where a fluorophore or excited state species is

The Air-Fluorescence Yield [PDF]
Detection of the air-fluorescence radiation induced by the charged particles of extensive air showers is a well-established technique for the study of ultra-high energy cosmic rays. Fluorescence telescopes provide a nearly calorimetric measure of the primary energy.

Structured illumination microscopy for dual-modality 3D sub-diffraction resolution fluorescence and refractive-index reconstruction [PDF]
Though structured illumination (SI) microscopy is a popular imaging technique conventionally associated with fluorescent super-resolution, recent works have suggested its applicability towards sub-diffraction coherent imaging with quantitative endogenous biological contrast.
