Development of Functional Fluorescent Molecular Probes for the Detection of Biological Substances

open access: yesBiosensors, 2015
This review is confined to sensors that use fluorescence to transmit biochemical information. Fluorescence is, by far, the most frequently exploited phenomenon for chemical sensors and biosensors.

Recent results from the Pierre Auger Observatory [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2006
The goal of the Pierre Auger Observatory is to determine the still unknown nature and origin of ultra-high energy cosmic rays. The study of these elusive particles probes astrophysical sites of particle acceleration as well as fundamental interactions at energies unattainable in accelerator facilities.

Recent Advances in Wide‐Bandgap Perovskite Solar Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Ubiquitous defects predominately account for photo‐instability and open‐circuit voltage losses in wide‐bandgap perovskite solar cells (WBG PSCs). This review comprehensively presents the underlying impact mechanisms, summarizes the advanced optimization strategies across various functional layers and their interfaces to develop efficient and stable WBG

Snapshot 3D tracking of insulin granules in live cells [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2018
Rapid and accurate volumetric imaging remains a challenge, yet has the potential to enhance understanding of cell function. We developed and used a multifocal microscope (MFM) for 3D snapshot imaging to allow 3D tracking of insulin granules labeled with mCherry in MIN6 cells.

Turbulent Mixing in Transverse Jets [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
Turbulent mixing is studied in liquid-phase transverse jets. Jet-fluid concentration fields were measured using laser-induced fluorescence and digital-imaging techniques, for jets in the Reynolds number range 1000

Structured Light Projection Using Image Guide Fibers for In Situ Photo‐biofabrication

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Light‐based biofabrication is typically performed with single wavelength light sources and within benchtop devices. This work demonstrates FaSt‐Light (Fiber‐assisted Structured Light) as a new approach to achieve multiwavelength image projection using flexible image guide fibers, which enables a variety of applications for in situ biofabrication ...
