Conformational Transitions Accompanying Oligomerization of Yeast Alcohol Oxidase, a Peroxisomal Flavoenzyme [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
Alcohol oxidase (AO) is a homo-octameric flavoenzyme which catalyzes methanol oxidation in methylotrophic yeasts. AO protein is synthesized in the cytosol and subsequently sorted to peroxisomes where the active enzyme is formed.

Confocal fluorescence anisotropy and FRAP imaging of α-synuclein amyloid aggregates in living cells. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2011
We assessed the intracellular association states of the Parkinson's disease related protein α-synuclein (AS) in living cells by transfection with a functional recombinant mutant protein (AS-C4) bearing a tetracysteine tag binding the fluorogenic ...

Formation of β-Strand Oligomers of Antimicrobial Peptide Magainin 2 Contributes to Disruption of Phospholipid Membrane

open access: yesMembranes, 2022
The antimicrobial peptide magainin 2 (M2) interacts with and induces structural damage in bacterial cell membranes. Although extensive biophysical studies have revealed the interaction mechanism between M2 and membranes, the mechanism of membrane ...

Multiplexing Fluorescence Anisotropy Using Frequency Encoding [PDF]

open access: yesAnalytical Chemistry, 2016
In this report, a method to multiplex fluorescence anisotropy measurements is described using frequency encoding. As a demonstration of the method, simultaneous competitive immunoassays for insulin and glucagon were performed by measuring the ratio of bound and free Cy5-insulin and FITC-glucagon in the presence of their respective antibodies.

Photophysics, Molecular Reorientation in Solution and X-Ray Structure of a New Fluorescent Probe 1,7-Diazaperylene [PDF]

open access: yes, 1993
A new fluorescent molecule 1,7-diazaperylene (DP) has been investigated by means of time-resolved and steady-state polarized fluorescence spectroscopy, as well as X-ray spectroscopy.

Effect of Chitosan and Amphiphilic Polymers on the Photosensitizing and Spectral Properties of Rose Bengal

open access: yesMolecules, 2022
The influence of chitosan (CS) and amphiphilic polymers (AP: pluronic F108 and polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP)) on the photocatalytic activity of rose bengal (RB) in a model reaction of tryptophan photo-oxidation in phosphate-buffered saline (PBS) was studied.

Influence of Membrane Phase on the Optical Properties of DPH

open access: yesMolecules, 2020
The fluorescent molecule diphenylhexatriene (DPH) has been often used in combination with fluorescence anisotropy measurements, yet little is known regarding the non-linear optical properties.

Steady state fluorescence studies on lipase-vesicle interactions [PDF]

open access: yes, 1994
The interaction of lipase from Candida cylindracea (CCL) with positively charged polymerizable surfactant vesicles was studied by the use of steady-state fluorescence techniques. The phase transition of vesicles composed of nonpolymerized and polymerized

Catalyzed Hairpin Assembly-Assisted DNA Dendrimer Enhanced Fluorescence Anisotropy for MicroRNA Detection

open access: yesChemosensors, 2022
Biomacromolecules have been employed successfully as fluorescence anisotropy (FA) amplifiers for biosensing in reported studies. However, the sensitivities of the traditional biomacromolecule amplified FA strategies need to be improved because of the ...

Measuring F-actin properties in dendritic spines

open access: yesFrontiers in Neuroanatomy, 2014
During the last decade, numerous studies have demonstrated that the actin cytoskeleton plays a pivotal role in the control of dendritic spine shape. Synaptic stimulation rapidly changes the actin dynamics and many actin regulators have been shown to play
