Biomarker‐Based Prediction of OATP1B1 Activity in Clinical Routine—Investigating Coproporphyrins as Markers for Drug–Drug–Gene Interactions

open access: yesClinical Pharmacology &Therapeutics, Volume 120, Issue 2, Page 492-500, August 2026.
Coproporphyrin I (CPI) is an established endogenous biomarker for detecting drug–drug interactions (DDIs) involving the hepatic uptake transporter Organic Anion Transporting Polypeptide 1B1 (OATP1B1, gene SLCO1B1). While CPI has been extensively studied in healthy volunteers using controlled pre‐ and post‐OATP1B1‐inhibitor sampling, its applicability ...

Biomolecular Corona of Extracellular Vesicles: Report on Isev Workshop

open access: yesJournal of Extracellular Biology, Volume 5, Issue 8, August 2026.
ABSTRACT The concept of the “biomolecular corona” (BC) was first introduced to describe the spontaneous absorption of molecules, mainly proteins, onto the surface of synthetic nanoparticles upon exposure to biological fluids. More recently, the same term has been used to describe biomolecules that dynamically interact with the surface of extracellular ...

DNA‐Enzyme Hybrid Nanostructures: Functional Materials to Modulate Enzymatic Activity

open access: yesSmall, Volume 22, Issue 43, 3 August 2026.
DNA–enzyme hybrid nanostructures enable precise spatial and stoichiometric control over enzyme organization, offering a powerful platform to modulate catalytic activity. This review critically evaluates key mechanistic hypotheses, including proximity effects, microenvironment changes, confinement, and stabilization, as well as highlighting ...

Defining Composition–Cytokine Relationships Enables the Design of Lipid Nanoparticles with Programmed Immunogenicity

open access: yesSmall, Volume 22, Issue 45, 13 August 2026.
Lipid nanoparticle composition governs distinct cytokine programs through the interplay of ionizable and polyethylene glycol‐conjugated (PEGylated) lipids. In vitro profiling, design of experiments (DoE) modeling, and in vivo validation reveal how formulation can tune reactogenicity‐associated pathways, while transgene expression remains the strongest ...

Programmable Inter‐Droplet Communication by Polymer‐Gated Ion Transport Through Nanopore Lattices

open access: yesSmall Science, Volume 6, Issue 8, August 2026.
Laser‐written polyelectrolyte barriers were applied for regulating imbibition and ion transport through silica mesopores between droplet compartments. Specific imbibition sequences and precipitation readouts indicated cation‐selective transport across the barriers. Depending on salt identity, barrier, and experimental parameters, ionic transport ranged

Identification of drug repurposing candidates for the treatment of polycystic kidney disease

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, Volume 183, Issue 16, Page 5082-5101, August 2026.
Background and Purpose Autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD) is a leading cause of end‐stage renal disease with limited treatment options. Drug repurposing offers a promising strategy to find effective treatments. Experimental Approach We identified birinapant, bardoxolone methyl and salicylic acid as repurposing candidates for ADPKD and

Fluorescence correlation spectroscopy (FCS) as a tool to study DNA condensation with hexadecyltrimethylammonium bromide (HTAB).

open access: yesCellular & molecular biology letters, 2002
The presented data show that the FCS technique can be used to detect the DNA condensation process induced with the cationic compound hexadecyltrimethylammonium bromide (HTAB). We have shown that HTAB induces plasmid condensation upon interaction with it. Condensation can be considered to be complete when the diffusion constant reaches its maximum.

Fluorescence Correlation Spectroscopy (FCS) Unlocks the Presence of Microcystin-LR in Fresh Water

open access: yes
Water is essential for human life, and access to clean water is considered a basic human right by the United Nations. Around the world, a high proportion of the population still does not have access to safe fresh water, with a high impact on health.
