Fluorogenic and Bioorthogonal Modification of RNA Using Photoclick Chemistry

open access: yesBiomolecules, 2020
A bromoaryltetrazole-modified uridine was synthesized as a new RNA building block for bioorthogonal, light-activated and postsynthetic modification with commercially available fluorescent dyes.

Fate mapping identifies the origin of SHF/AHF progenitors in the chick primitive streak [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Heart development depends on the spatio-temporally regulated contribution of progenitor cells from the primary, secondary and anterior heart fields. Primary heart field (PHF) cells are first recruited to form a linear heart tube; later, they contribute ...

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

Fluorescent DNA hybridization probe preparation using amine modification and reactive dye coupling

open access: yesBioTechniques, 2004
Fluorescent nucleic acid hybridization probes traditionally have been generated by enzymatic incorporation of dye-labeled nucleotides, even though incorporation efficiency is low and variable from dye to dye.

Fluorescent radiation converter [PDF]

open access: yes, 1981
A fluorescence radiation converter is described which includes a substantially undoped optically transparent substrate and a waveshifter coating deposited on at least one portion of the substrate for absorption of radiation and conversion of fluorescent ...

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Identification of groundwater microbes that decrease the concentration of the conservative tracer uranine

open access: yesHeliyon
Fluorescent dyes are commonly used as conservative groundwater tracers to track the migration of water. Over- or underestimation of important parameters such as the water flow rate can occur if the concentration of a dye is changed by unexpected ...
