Detecting mitochondria in fluorescence images

Proceedings of the 2nd International Conference on Interaction Sciences: Information Technology, Culture and Human, 2009
In this paper, we propose a method to localize mitochondria in fluorescence images of axons. The proposed method first finds a moderate threshold to detect differently illuminated mitochondria in the image. A region based analysis is then performed to filter out noisy pixels that are detected during the thesholding process.

Fluorescence Imaging of Tumors In Vivo

Current Medicinal Chemistry, 2005
We review recent progress in tumor imaging in vivo using fluorescent tags, highlight the problems of fluorescence imaging in small animals, discuss recent advances in near-infrared fluorochromes and quantum dots, and point to some future possibilities. GFP-based fluorescence imaging is briefly discussed.

Fluorescence imaging for machine vision

Applied Optics, 1992
Suitable illumination is a crucial aspect in the successful solution of machine vision problems. In this research we used objective image evaluation techniques and found that fluorescence imaging is superior to conventional illumination for acquiring images of integrated circuit lead bonds. This is an interesting and surprising finding, since there was

The Intensification of the Fluorescent Image in Radiology

The British Journal of Radiology, 1950
There are two reasons at least why efforts are being made to increase the brightness levels of the fluorescent image in radiology, namely (a) the present possibility of excessive dosage to patients in medical work, and (b) the nuisancefactor of visual pre-adaptation in the dark, especially for several observers. The condition to be satisfied is that of

Fluorescence imaging

2000
A number of fluorescence imaging techniques show diagnostic promise. Imaging endogenous fluorescence has been proposed as a method for cancer diagnosis. Unfortunately, tissue autofluorescence is relatively weak and poor contrast between malignant and normal tissue is seen.
